The world is my oyster (re-write of first chapter)

Dear Blogit Friends, I decided to rewrite the first chapter of my story, which seemed to me in retrospect to be much too tame. Please give me your honest opinions about the two versions. The world is my oyster (world of once upon a time)

Dear Blogit friends my ex-husband is still in the intensive care unit, but neither he, the hospital or the family have given up. After 3½ weeks it is really amazing!
