Zap! I just deleted 2 paragraphs of boring details: long story short the neighbor guy was up at 4:30 a.m. dragging his garbage cans in from the curb, woke me up, eventually got up late and was almost late for the doctor's appt. Doc B. was happy with my 30 point lower B.P., the blood work all came... Sign in to see full entry.

The Writer's Group at The Center
Last week we learned that Brenda, our little London girl who came to this neck of the woods because she "married a Yank" back in the day, is getting married this coming weekend. The original Yank hadn't worked out - she's been with this one for about 17 years now, and they decided to go ahead and... Sign in to see full entry.

Rainy Days and Tuesdays
I’ve noticed things go bat crap crazy on rainy Tuesdays at The Center. It’s a similar sequence of events to the side-gangling weirdness of a full moon, but even more concentrated. Yesterday, the 31st of May, was a prime example. First, Charlotte called to check on the availability of the van for her... Sign in to see full entry.

Dorcas... (Cont'd)
One day I was on a ladder, adjusting one of the lights mounted on a beam about nine feet above the studio floor. In my jeans and Nikes I’d worn to class I was ready for the staging duties, and I said to Dorcas, whose feet were bulging out of a pair of strappy mid- heels, that it was nice to be able... Remembering an Elizabeth Taylor wannabe
I’m not sure what year it was, 1980 or ’81, when I met Dorcas. She was also a non-traditional student. I was 46 at the time, and thought she was maybe five or six years younger. I was working as an office assistant, taking classes in hope of getting a job after graduation that would be more fun than... Sign in to see full entry.
Well, Wha' d'ya know?
Got to tinkering around with the new Windows - found a tab that produces an introductory video. That explained a thing or two, but I'm sure I'll have to go back and view it again before the new modus operandi is in my frontal cortex and the old automatic habits are moved to the back of my mind. Of... Sign in to see full entry.

Hi Tech Hijack
Got up this a.m., started the coffee, took my pills. The phone rang, son Rusty checking to make sure we had a breakfast date. Put in my earplugs (hearing aids) and was surprised to realize the wall clock in the kitchen actually ticks, each time the second-hand moves. Humph! Never noticed that. Went... Today is Summer's first "Fest"
School was out last Friday, our HS graduated 540 - so now there'll be a few days of sleeping late and just vedging out before extreme boredom sets in and they begin looking for a summer job. This of course doesn't apply to certain ambitious kids who lined up their job at Annie's Frozen Custard stand... Sign in to see full entry.

It was a dark and stormy morning...
The WYOS group met at The Center yesterday, all ten of us bespattered with rain drops, our ears ringing from the thunderstorm; it's May in Illinois but the April storms continue. Our writing topic of the day was "The road not taken." What would have happened if you'd made a different choice early on... Sign in to see full entry.

RIP Mable...
Mable Farrington was a volunteer at The Center for 30 years, from the time of her retirement at 65 until she was past 95. She answered the phone, helped people remember to take their glasses with them when they were done playing bingo, answered questions about other services for seniors, did some...
