Felt a bit tired today as Christian didn't get back from his weekend in Derbyshire until 11.20 last night instead of 6.00! The expedition seems to have been a bit od a shambles in terms of the organisation with routes approved that couldn't possibly be walked and lack of water at the designated... A true champion

I went for a ten mile bike ride last night; it was a glorious evening and lovely to be out in the countryside in the late sunshine. Serene in the heat

It's been baking here in Cambridgeshire today with sunshine all day and temperatures in the high eighties. Day of progress

Hot and cold

I worked from home yesterday which meant I didn't have to travel in the heat that has beset England. Having said that, I found it really hard to concentrate on anything at all. Together again

Well, after a great evening when Murray won at Wimbledon and the children eventually came home, we watched a film on Sky: The John Denver story. Carnival time

We had the village carnival in Burwell today. I've not seen so many floats carrying waving children for years. You could tell they'd been building and painting them for weeks and were almost relieved the day had come at last. It's been a bit rainy but very warm and a lovely part of the village's... Michael Jackson: Rest in Peace

Ivan woke us in the early hours to say Facebook was awash witht he news of Michael Jackson's death.
