photos of the new arrangements

https://flic.kr/ps/rhS1C You can see a few things that have not yet found their ideal locations, like the leaf from the dining room table. But for the most part, the dining and living rooms are much cleaner and freshened up! Some of the teapots and cups will be finding new homes as they are cute, but never used. Some I will give away, some will go on Marketplace and help pay for the new cabinet! Sign in to see full entry.

A Day of Rest

There are still some places upstairs that require some attention with a duster, and some rearrangements of bits and bobs, but for the most part, the Great Spring Clean is accomplished. Well, if you don't consider the kitchen and the whole downstairs. For me, this is enough for now. I am enjoying it greatly each time I walk through the living room and dining room. I know my friend, Joanne, will also appreciate it, when she comes by. As it happened, that didn't happen last night as we'd planned.... Sign in to see full entry.

The end (for now) is in sight!

Taking a sitting break... The Great House Dusting & Clean-up continues. My back and hip were hurting quite a lot when I got up this morning, and I did something I rarely do, which is to take 3 acetaminophen tablets instead of 2. And it is working! What a relief! I was so distracted by excitement that I forgot to take the 'before' photos I'd intended, but did get a shot this morning of how things look now. Maybe I can find some older ones of how the wall and cups collection looked in its first... Sign in to see full entry.

Today's the day!

In a little while, Charlie and Rob and I will go collect that cabinet with the sliding glass doors, and they will carry it in when I've moved everything out of the path of entry. Then I'll take them to lunch for a thank-you, and after that, will dust the new shelves and begin to clear the dining room table, and fill all that wonderful new open space! I need to take a few before and during and after shots! All this began a few days ago with clearing and cleaning the shelves, teacups and pots on... Sign in to see full entry.

Upheavals continue...

I had to move the comfy chair to set up the lamp that was on the foyer floor until Vale, my grandson who lives with Charlie, moved a shelf unit down there, and lifted the floor lamp up onto the living room level. I needed to get behind the chair to re-place the long paper shade. Having wrestled the chair into the center of the room, I considered that rather than stick it back whence it had come, it could serve as a start to a change I've wanted to make for some time: moving the couch to the... Spring cleaning, Summer changing

The wall of shelves behind my dining room table has been cleaned and rearranged over the past several days. The decor consists of many little independent cubbies and decorative bits of shelving of an eclectic character. They have contained a part of my teacups and pots collection and quite a variety and quantity of teas. They gather dust prodigiously, and last winter while I was away for 3 weeks, the mice found them all quite interesting. I didn't realize how much until this week. So the... Night Adventures!

So, last night, before I turned out the light, but having left the deck door open, I heard a Ruckus at my bedroom door. It was cat but it was also bird. Somehow, someone got the bottom cage door open, and yellow keet was out! Pixie was in full-on hunt mode. Keet was fluttering around the floor and lower furnitures, under the dining room table, and was under the former fish tank when I nabbed cat and thrust her into the inner darkness (my bathroom) shutting the doors between her and the Hunt.... It's a good Monday so far!

Cool and sunny, with thunderstormy afternoon predicted... Sounds good! We had some of that yesterday, with some good drenching rain for a little while. Pixiechops is getting closer lately, actually climbing into the chair beside me, and cuddling for a while. She has a pretty fine purr, too! Yesterday, as I sat here in the cozy chair, she climbed up to lay her head on my shoulder. This is one of the reasons I decided it was time, that I needed a cat in my life again. Her antics still make me... Sign in to see full entry.

Cat Tricks

Here I am downstairs again, with the fan blowing cool around the room, and I am trapped. I'd like to go upstairs and have a little second breakfast--first was at 6 this morning, and it's now coming up on 10. But I'm trapped. Pixie, who has been choosing to spend more time near me the past several days is comfortably curled up and napping on the desk chair beside this big cozy chair, that is placed so I have a convenient place to set this laptop when I want to get up. You who have cats know how... Sign in to see full entry.

One Thing at a Time...

Another pretty morning leading towards a scorching afternoon... mid 90s are forecast. I am maintaining my cooler downstairs nest, keeping the laptop here. It isn't just the heat, it's a kind of personal social experiment. One aspect of it is doing one thing at a time. Here, I do the online stuff. Upstairs I can watch TV. In either place there are housekeeping Things To Do, so that cancels out there. But usually I divide my attention and tax my brain by doing TV and online stuff at the same time....
