Sleepy Tuesday

Cold morning, starting in the high 20s, and predicted not to reach 60F today. I have heard whispers about possible snow by Thursday! I've turned the heat up, aiming for mid-60s in the house. The pair o' 'keets are not fluffed up, but I'm sure they won't mind a little more warmth in their world. Come Halloween, while slightly warmer, kids are going to be having to wear coats over their costumes for evening shenanigans. That was always so disappointing when I was a kid. The clever ones, of course,... Sign in to see full entry.

The results are in:

Today was a better day than Saturday at the event, I am glad to report. It was a quiet morning again, but in the afternoon--which only rant to 4pm, not 6--several more bears and a couple of the books were sold. Charlie did better than just paying for the booth, around $350--enough to take the edge off some bills. It wasn't like the first of the Curiosities & Oddities events when he made over $1000, but then that one happened just when we were coming out from behind our doors and risking the... Saturday Blues

1'The winds are blowing in the cold front this morning, a little later than predicted, the low this morning at 5:30 being in the 50s. This time tomorrow it will be 30s. Yesterday's event, the Curiosities & Oddities Expo, was a very, very slow day for business, but great for conversations and meetings. The energy was not lively or enthusiastic or fun, and while Charlie's creations--Wasteland Bears, wood-burned decorated wands, dice, and a wooden sword, and his amazing weird sculptures, his book... New!

So... The new old laptop was a fail. However, they promised if I couldn't work with it, I could bring it back and apply the money to another. So--I did that today. And here I sit with a NEW new laptop, trying to find my way in, trying to make it mine. Like so many here, I do not love this process. It's Windows 11, for one thing, after my years of feeling quite content with W 10. It's a Gateway, the brand with the cow, another first for me! It has many capabilities, but I have not yet discovered... Sign in to see full entry.

Friday's gonna be busy!

Morning is showing just a little through the back sliding door, and I'm sitting here with the latest episode of The British Baking Show playing. At the moment they are attempting to make smores. (They've missed the concept, I fear...) There's another weekend event starting today, where Charlie will be with his post-apocalyptic bears. This means a couple of hours of set-up time this afternoon. It's the Curiosities & Oddities show, and it's here in the Springs, so it's a good show for him and for... Sign in to see full entry.

Wednesday again...

Another Bonus Day... Last night the temps were down in the 30s, but will be mid-70s this afternoon! And the sun is bright and clear. Pixiechops gets another day on the deck. I had a strange dream this morning before waking, about finding my truest self... can't describe it beyond that, the filaments still drifting through my mind are too wispy now, and I'm not sure I even achieved the goal, but woke feeling good about me. A while back, the one credit card I have been using for several years... Sign in to see full entry.

Here it comes...

Here comes Winter. Overnight, the first 30s of the season... and looking ahead, we have one more week with days above 70, and then... highs in the 40s, nights in December predicted in the teens. I predict all doors and windows shut tight day and night, and a certain cat no longer visiting the great Outside of the deck, but being more cuddlesome than ever! She has already been seeking warmth at night, insinuating herself under the bed-clothes, spooning against my legs. She kinda locks me in... Sign in to see full entry.

People, in fact, are not just AWFUL!

Charlie and I had dropped off our groceries in the truck and were on the way over to the hair-cutters, when a man fell in a seizure right there in front of us. Charlie saw him fall, and I was just a moment behind him. Charlie was immediately on his phone to 911, and I knelt by the man and just put my hands on him on an impulse of letting him know he was not alone, and was cared for, even if he was not consciously aware. Another woman brought over a folded blanket to put under his head. Someone... Sign in to see full entry.

Reluctant morning...

Day seemed to come on slowly this morning. After summer's mornings rising brightly by 5:30, this morning it was still dark at 6:30, light only hinted at by then, and not making it past the curtains on the eastern side of the house until 7. Now, at 7:30, the sun itself has not risen here, though the mountains are glowing with it to the west. I, on the other hand, rose around 5. Dark mornings have their rewards: when the sky is clear, Jupiter is brilliant in the eastern sky, and this always is... Sign in to see full entry.
