https://flic.kr/ps/rhS1C Here are the first of this season's crochet projects. I'm determined to use up some of the yarns that have been in the closet for quite a while now. Some were impulse buys, others a bit more special. For instance I still have some of Stansborough Farms beautiful wools. That's the place in New Zealand that provided a lot of costuming for LORD OF THE RINGS and NARNIA. They breed a natural grey sheep with a very special lustre and feel to its wool. No one else has that... Sign in to see full entry.

Here it comes...
Clouds are moving in, temperatures are falling--40s down to 20s with 'feels like' in the teens. We are expecting some snow tonight and tomorrow. Charlie's Alliance LARP plans the last meet of the season this weekend, but the camp has heated cabins, so unless the roads are really bad, it probably won't be cancelled. I've started with the crochet hook again. First, the new yarn, the couple of skeins whose colors I did not resist, and now some that was in the closet. I wonder how far through the... Early to rise...
Up and out this morning before 8, to take my truck down to the auto shop where they have looked after my truck for the past 10 years or so. This time it was a break in the hose between the water reservoir and the windshield spritzer. It was quickly fixed, and the cheapest I've ever gotten out of there--under $30! And I was home again by 9. Not knowing how long it would be, I took along hooks and yarn, and got busy on the next hat. It only got to about a 4-inch disc so I'll be finishing that up... Early morning busyness
This morning I called Kaiser to make sure what time I was due there, about an hour before I was due there. A1C, the blood sugar average over 3 months, is down a full point, which is excellent, while the daily numbers are still over the ideal range though by less than a while ago. Doc and I agreed that raising the insulin a bit more is better than adding another drug. I am also side-eyeing the holiday feastings that loom up over the next couple of months! Flu shot I had last time I was in, and... Sign in to see full entry.

What, Friday already...?
Icy cold this morning, but afternoon should be in the 60sF which is warm enough for a kitty to hang out on the deck. Yesterday's snow was fun to watch, but it didn't stick around. In fact, it didn't stick to much of anything. Still, I won't be driving today before things warm up above freezing! It's 26 at the moment, near 7:30. ______________ Two hours later... sitting here watching the Great British Baking Show while sipping my coffee, and being stared at with big blue kitty eyes while I visit... And now...
Call it Adnohr's Delight--It is snowing! I lAccording to weather maps, we are just on the edge of much more consequential snowfall a few miles west of here, where the mountains truly begin. My old high school chum who lives up there in Bailey CO will be telling me about it pretty soon! But here I'll be surprised if we get as much as an inch. I always like the first snow of the season. Thursday creeping in...
Cold and grey this morning, after temps dipped toes in the 20s F overnight. Dawn came on slowly, blocked by a lot of cloud cover, and it's windy. I woke this morning around 6, and there was no hint of day except where the clouds were a bit ragged at the hem. I got up and first thing turned up the thermostat, going slowly, just to the point where I hear the furnace gasp into action. It's warm in here now, a couple of hours later. Pixiechops was meowing softly but persistantly, to get my... Sign in to see full entry.

Sleepy Tuesday
Cold morning, starting in the high 20s, and predicted not to reach 60F today. I have heard whispers about possible snow by Thursday! I've turned the heat up, aiming for mid-60s in the house. The pair o' 'keets are not fluffed up, but I'm sure they won't mind a little more warmth in their world. Come Halloween, while slightly warmer, kids are going to be having to wear coats over their costumes for evening shenanigans. That was always so disappointing when I was a kid. The clever ones, of course,... Sign in to see full entry.

The results are in:
Today was a better day than Saturday at the event, I am glad to report. It was a quiet morning again, but in the afternoon--which only rant to 4pm, not 6--several more bears and a couple of the books were sold. Charlie did better than just paying for the booth, around $350--enough to take the edge off some bills. It wasn't like the first of the Curiosities & Oddities events when he made over $1000, but then that one happened just when we were coming out from behind our doors and risking the... Saturday Blues
1'The winds are blowing in the cold front this morning, a little later than predicted, the low this morning at 5:30 being in the 50s. This time tomorrow it will be 30s. Yesterday's event, the Curiosities & Oddities Expo, was a very, very slow day for business, but great for conversations and meetings. The energy was not lively or enthusiastic or fun, and while Charlie's creations--Wasteland Bears, wood-burned decorated wands, dice, and a wooden sword, and his amazing weird sculptures, his book...
