The latest shop news

Night has blown in, has blown away the warmth we had yesterday. It will be a chilly, rainy day tomorrow, and that is forecast for the next several days. There will be flakes of snow from time to time. Oh, Colorado weather, you are so silly! We have had busy days with the workshop and the runnings around to get this and that for it. There was some prep work for the floor installation, and we're expecting that to be all done by the weekend. We're shopping around for shelving and supplies, running... Sign in to see full entry.

Not as advertised...

Waking with a mental run-down of the day's plan for getting out to the thrift store's Saturday sale, and a couple more loads from storage to workshop-- Then walking out of my room to discover the world outside under 6 inches of fluffy snow AGAIN! It won't last, what with temps in the 50s expected today, but it will delay the morning's start for sure! Yesterday we were in the 60s and had the first thunderstorm of the season! I have observed a new tricksy move coming from Facebook vendors: An ad... Sign in to see full entry.

Colorado Weather!

We got another load transferred from storage to workshop, and then it began to rain like it means it! We've had the first lightning and thunder of the season! Then it was time to get kitty Astrid to the vet again, during which the rain turned to something between little hail and icy snow. Home again, I am enjoying a nice toasted cheese sandwich, and just might take a nap. This weather is like Spring was having a party, and Winter crashed in--"Party? Party! I brought the ice!" And next week,... Sign in to see full entry.

More dreams and schemes

Chilly morning, with rain promised but I don't see signs of it yet. Another odd dream overnight, that I had some ailment that basically ate my memories, and I had not enough short-term memory to function in any normal way. I developed a terrible thirst along with it, so bad that even when I was drinking, my mouth was still dry. Apparently, it was reality sneaking in: I had to wake up and get a real drink of real water in the real world. Snuffy-nosed, I'd been mouth-breathing for long enough to... Sign in to see full entry.

End of Day Report

Headed out around 10 this morning, got back home around 5. Long day, but we got so much done! We have 10 more days to clear the storage unit and it looks like we'll make that deadline, even beat it. Nearly all the costuming is out--maybe 4 more bins will finish that job--and much of the big stage and household stuff has already gone. I think 5 more truck-loads will do it. Everything is going to the workshop, and it is looking pretty crowded in places. We are delayed with fully setting up because... Sign in to see full entry.

Heading out any moment...

Starting another busy day... clearing more from the storage unit, buying more plastic bins of various sizes... unloading and then back to get more from the storage... Pretty sky this morning, all blue and pink, but mostly grey now. We could see rain, too. Photos from WhimsyCon are up, finally: https://flic.kr/ps/rhS1C Sign in to see full entry.

Bringing the heat!

The sun is bright, and the day, They promise, will hint of summer! In the Springs we expect temps in the 80s! And so for the first time this year I am wearing my capri-length pants! Remember those? My elder brain was struggling to recall what they are called, these cropped length pants. Remember when we called them 'pedal-pushers' from when they were what we wore riding bikes? Anyway, I also think of them as my 'hobbit pants' and wear them all summer by choice because they are not only cooler,... Sign in to see full entry.

Sunday driving

Here we are with temps climbing to maybe 75 today! Spring is declaring itself, though Winter may yet have a few things to say. I may have mentioned before that we've more than once had snow on Mother's Day! Driving across the countryside yesterday it was more fun than usual. The fields and woods on the way out to Elbert I saw pronghorns--a herd of a couple dozen--and in another field, a number of bison! Not wild ones, I think, but farmed ones. Then, beyond Elbert where we needed to go to pick up... Sign in to see full entry.

It's been a busy week!

It has been chilly all week but the coming week is predicted to bring temps in the 70s, maybe even 80s! Besides all the moving of fixtures and furnishings for the workshop, Charlie has been putting many hours into creating masks and decor for this weekend's LARP. I can't show you any of it until after the event, but I hope to get some shots when I go to pick him up tomorrow. I have been working with the costuming collection, putting things up onto hangers and the temporary racks. Next week we... Sign in to see full entry.

When Tuesday is like Monday

Yesterday was a lot about recovering from the weekend away at WhimsyCon. A good time was had, with 10 of Charlie's 14 Wasteland Bears finding new best friends, and our having congenial neighbors in the vendors' room. His Auto-Billiards was, as always, a big hit with the crowd, and the folks from the Alliance LARP were also in attendance. Things went well enough at home where my friend Joanne's two teen daughters looked after the critters. They'd gone home by the time we got back Sunday evening,... Sign in to see full entry.
