Looking after interests...

Best we can look forward to today is 30F, which is better than the -6 'feels-like' temperature this morning. Looking forward to much warmer tomorrow, and planning to hold out for then to do driving errands. Today I will finish the Santa hat for the younger granddaughter in Seattle which she needs for a holiday show. Just need to fasten the bobble on the top, box it up and send it off. It's that big plush yarn that works up pretty quickly. Charlie has one he's worn for quite a few holiday... Sign in to see full entry.

A Pretty Good Morning

A certain cat has chosen today for cuddling across my chest, purring... For this reason I am typing one-handed. Earlier, I let her out the back door into the world of blowing, freezing, snowiness, figuring she would come right back in pretty much immediately. Nope. She was out there daintily, cautiously checking it out for maybe 5 minutes while the sliding door was agape and heat and cold were trading places. Got some interesting financial news just now. Most of the investments I inherited a few... Sign in to see full entry.

Still here...

It has been one of those withdrawn weeks... Nothing to say that I felt would be of particular interest. I mean, really, how many CoSprings weather reports do any of us need? Temps are yo-yoing around, skies are cloudy and clear, and now and then there is a dusting of snow. But there was a pretty sunset this evening, and a few pictures happened... And after neglecting to do so for a while now, I loaded them up here and did a bit of trimming and editing on the photos of the past few weeks.... Sign in to see full entry.

Here comes the wind!

Today should be mild compared to last week's deep freeze: up in the low 50s for a little while this afternoon, but from noon onwards through the night, we're gonna have WIND! It will blow in a cold day tomorrow, but then Friday relents with calm and 50s again. I imagine you have your Thanksgiving plans in place with all the cooking just hanging out in the wings. I've told the guys next door we can cook something together, though after last weekend's turkey, we probably won't do another of those.... Sign in to see full entry.

Middle of the Night feast reprise

My friend is downstairs, presumeably asleep still at 4am. I woke about 45 minutes ago very hungry--tummy, for anything, and mouth for more of yesterday's feast: turkey, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce... They are both now satisfied. So seems to be Pixiechops who had quite a lot of turkey yesterday evening. She got a little more this morning, of course. There were also potatoes, baked under the turkey, and some of Charlie's herbed and parmesaned potato wedges last night, and his special... Sign in to see full entry.

It's COLD out there!

Overnight temps were down to single digits, and feeling like -single digits, so they say. I have not gone outside to test it. Oddly enough, the cold water to my upstairs, most-vulnerable bathroom did not freeze, though I forgot to leave it dripping. My friend is here for, as one of my kids call it, Friendsgiving. She has to be the main cook for actual Thanksgiving this year, so we decided to this a weekend on one side or the other, and this one won out. So today it will be turkey with stuffing,... Pre-Thanksgiving weekend

Cold nights and cold days, and suddenly our old community cats are turning up at the door. Pixiechops is not favorably impressed. Yesterday I had to sling her into the bedroom and shut the door firmly in order to give Olaf some attention and a few bites of lunch meats. He could have come inside, but chose not to. It would be great if she'd get used to such visitors, but that won't happen any time soon. Tomorrow my old chum from high school who now lives about an hour northwest of hereis coming... It's Fish Truck Day!

Seems it's really winter-cold across the west and midwest and the east... Hard to imagine equatorial places that are forever summer, or down-under where spring is well along towards summer. Nights here are in the teens lately, and today the high is expected to stay below 40F. My elder daughter, the Maryland one, is currently with her husband touring Iceland, which may be warmer than home right now. A couple of weeks ago they were in Hawaii. I'm so glad for them that they are able to travel far... Sign in to see full entry.

Saturday Check-in

Checking in on Wordpress this morning, I see my writing has made it to Denmark today. Since waking my Loosely Speaking blog over there, it's been viewed in India, Hong Kong, Singapore, Ghana, Croatia, Hungary, Sweden, Canada, and the US. Poetry is the best-read category. Here, temps dropped to ~12F overnight, and now, half past 9, it's all the way up to 31. And I have to go out in it, shower-damp head and all. Today I am going out to buy 'keet food, and I have promised to clean their cage today,... Sign in to see full entry.

Here we go again!

Wednesday morning... It's just above freezing this morning, and will get up to near 70 this afternoon. By Friday, it will be 17, and not quite getting to 50 all day. Yo-Yo we go. later And another day done, or nearly. It's not yet 5:30, but it's dark. Wind has stepped up with great gusts all afternoon. I imagine it's the cool moving in. I noticed something odd today. I don't know what I did right, but for the first time ever, my Christmas cactus is putting out soooo many flowers! I've had it for... Sign in to see full entry.
