It's 5:30 pm and dark outside, and the thermometer is descending towards a day with snow tomorrow. I've spent all day at home, finishing up a couple of cowl projects and dealing with some to-do list items that I've been avoiding. As is so often the case, my trepidations there were unfounded. The most important was calling my sister whom I have not heard from since October when I emailed her about the goings-on of Charlie and me. I told her about the workshop, about my giving him a chunk of... Sign in to see full entry.

And so it begins...
2024--I insist on greeting it with optimism, looking at the trends towards justice overcoming years of political mal-, mis-, and non-feasance; towards the social awakening that some deride as 'woke' in defense of their own willful benightedness; towards the upwelling of responsibility for change as the kids who had to practice active-shooter drills in grade school are becoming old enough to vote. I have had flu, covid, and rsv vaccinations this past month, and those protecting against shingles... Sign in to see full entry.

The Day After The Day
Cold and bright, morning frost has sublimated, and there are no signs here of the blizzard conditions warned of just north of the Springs. Joanne came by early and we drove out to the DVM to get new registration tabs for the car I'm buying from her. She is on the edge today, feeling much stressed over a bunch of things going haywire just before she has to drive to Texas, leaving early tomorrow with her girls to visit family. It was no help at all that the DMV is closed today. Thing is, she's... Sign in to see full entry.

From Our TAPS!
She is having technical difficulties with getting into Blogit, and so I pass along her greetings to all the Blogiteers! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! Sign in to see full entry.
The Day Before The Day
It's grey outside this morning, and heavily frosted every which where. Temps are bottoming out and will be down around 11 tonight. It doesn't happen often, only a third of the time, They say, a white Christmas in this part of the world, but here we are, almost. It took until this past week to get to feeling that Christmas spirit. Every year it seems to take longer. But I did finally get a little cut tree, and it sits in splendor on the dining room table. Gone are the days of the huge arrays of... Sign in to see full entry.

Lively Sunday!
I dropped Charlie off at his Jugger practice today, then drove over to the UPS store to mail off a little package to Our TAPS, and then went looking for a little Christmas tree. I wanted a live on for the first time in several years, and looked at Lowes, at Trader Joe's and didn't find what I wanted. Another thing I have not done in a while I did today: I went for coffee at Starbucks. I had a crochet project with me, and sat working on it while enjoying a better than average coffee. I could have... Sign in to see full entry.

Replay
Once again, to 6+ inches of snow and a day with no hint of melting temperatures all day. Unfortunately, we have errands to run unless they can be postponed yet another day. I hear someone outside scraping snow off their vehicle. When the snow started yesterday, the street started out wet, so I fear there may be slick ice under the snow, the worst sort of driving. I have a stack of scarves beside me, ready to be sent off to family to wrap and warm their throats against their areas' winter chills.... Sign in to see full entry.

Six inches of snow fell overnight, and will not get much chance to melt today, with temps maybe as high as 35F--Definitely a home day! I'm watching cooking shows, and working on the Yule gifts for my eastern grandkids. They each asked for a cowl, one in pink, one in green, and after some indifferent attempts with merino wool, I've switched gears to give them the loveliness of the Stansborough Farms 'elven' wool. Considering the in-transit time for the yarn and then for the finished cowls, and the... Sign in to see full entry.

Here comes the sun!
The sun is just coming over the horizon on a day promising to be mid-60s, maybe even. closer to 70. I've had first breakfast already, but still need to make a nice cuppa coffee to round it out. This morning there are several errands to get done, including boxing gifts to send to both sides of the country, sending in my rent, and chatting with the diabetes nurse who specializes in Jardiance information. Then this evening, we have tickets for the UCCS clown show. I've shared video of Charlie in... Sign in to see full entry.

Busy morning!
I woke early, before the sun today, and got busy before breakfast, before sitting and lighting up laptop or tv. First, I attended to the turkey soup that finally got started last evening. All the remains went into the biggest pot I have and simmered on low heat overnight. This morning I took out the bones, added back in the meat that was looking fit and sorted out a couple of cups of bits for Charlie's dog Milo. Next, two medium-sized eggplants went into the oven at over 500F and stayed there... Sign in to see full entry.
