Embers isn't going to like this...

Back to the vet for another steroid shot... It has only been about a month since the last one, which was almost 2 months after the previous one. The shot isn't what bothers her so much, it's the ride in the car which is only about 10 minutes, but she gets car-sick every time. I have been in my isolationist mode the past little while: not enthusiastic about much, not wanting much to reach out into the world. I read here, but have not been commenting as much as I read. Apathy has set in, in a... Sign in to see full entry.

Ember's photo shoot

Here are her latest portraits--some of these I posted already on Facebook, but here are all of them-- https://www.flickr.com/gp/therovingeye/EznT65 She is looking good for an gal nearly old enough to vote, and is more playful lately, too. I weighed her this morning--at her least well, she was between 6 and 7 lbs and today she is 8.5! In other news... I am 65 today. Same age, it turns out, as WonderWoman. But I don't get around the way she does. My birthday present is a versatile device that can... Sign in to see full entry.

Good Morning!

First time in a week the Springs wakes to blue sky and sunshine! The temperature could reach the low 79s today, which would be very pleasant! Charlie calls it food poisoning but it sounds to me like he had a 24-hour stomach flu yesterday. Besides the so many unpleasantries that come with that, he has only a few more days to finish a large bird puppet prop for a show that will be needing it next week. There have been problems with the articulated joints, but I think he got those figured out... Sign in to see full entry.

last of summer's gardens

Turbulence

Finally got them out of the camera... On the way back from our latest Denver airport trip, Charlie took these photos while I drove. https://www.flickr.com/gp/therovingeye/i01z46 I did a bit of editing on them, but mostly they are Charlie's. Sign in to see full entry.

Choice

Chilly and dank and grey Summer is very gone today. Cat wants to go outside then won't I want to get things done but don't-- Back to bed is a clear temptation away from the world's contemplation but matters will not get any better left to weathers greyer and wetter Can't sit back and wallow in grey: Must rise and smile, remember play, Illuminate this pall of gloom With something fierce, rejecting doom Denying such a whimpering stance, Perhaps today I'll even dance! Changing of the season

It is a grey day, a damp day, an end of summer day in the Springs. Soon it will be time to turn up the thermostat just a little, close the doors to warm sunshine, and bring in the moveable garden plants. I will break out the warm wool socks for the sake of my chilly toes. The leaves on the big maple off the deck will go from green to gold, and the winds will make a golden blanket beneath the bare branches. All through the neighborhoods and up in the mountains, native aspens and oaks, and... Sign in to see full entry.

Right on schedule...

Autumn breezes are blowing in... Temperature was 44F this morning, and I put the heat on for a little while. It is time to start preparing space indoors for plants I don't want to lose to frost, which is just about all of them. Several of the begonias are shyly blooming again, too. I will make room for some of them in the bathrooms, hanging along the shower curtain rods. I think some can go under the window in the guest room which is bright and sunny on bright and sunny mornings. Some will go in... Sign in to see full entry.

--continuing...

When I got back to the hotel on Friday I was too tired to worry about reading, just fell right into bed. But in the morning... Well, the print on those tiny shampoo bottles is really tiny. And there were other things, too, like lotion and... two other things. I squinted and held them out at arm's length... If I had had my camera, I could have photographed them and looked at the blown up image. But no. So I did my best to figure them out, and took a couple into the shower that I thought were... Getting to the Pirate Fest

The event runs Friday evening--the adult-themed Pirates' Ball--through all day Saturday to 7pm--Pirate Fest Family Day. So we had to arrive at the site in Northglenn between 8 and 9:30am Friday, 80 miles up the road from home. Thursday night we planned to be ready, hitched up and with nothing to do but pull out by 7am. However... I ordered a couple of sea-themed wall hangings back in early July, planning to use them for our backdrops at this event. But they were coming from China and by last... Sign in to see full entry.
