Well, that's it then...

We have just translated into a world exactly like the one that just ended. Here's a bit of chat my son had this morning on FaceBook. Charlie: Personally, I'm glad that the Mayan thing is false... mostly because I would be PISSED if I never got to see the new Les Miserables. And I, of course, await the coming of our saurian overlords from space, but even if I were privy to their invasion plans, I wouldn't want to upset them by pulling a Maury Povich and announcing their plans to the world. Today I am boiling hemp.

Not for soup, no. Hemp twine is waxed, I am not sure why exactly. It makes it harder to use, like starch can make a shirt hard to wear, especially if you can't bend your arms. So, to use it as yarn, I boil the wax out of it. First, the ball has to be unwound into a skein, for which I have devised a piece of cardboard, as the forearm wind makes an unweildy hank that tangles. So I wind it onto the cardboard, and secure the loops in two places. Then, into the pot with it. If dyed, a lot of the dye... Sign in to see full entry.
