THE CELESTINE PROPHECY

The book has been recommended to me for years, and I finally have just watched the movie. Now I understand why it was recommended, and why by whom. Science!

April 22, Earthday, there will be a gathering here in Colorado Springs to honor Science. Science and scientists have taken something of a battering in the US over the past several years, over the topic of climate change particularly, but also generally. Some people really don't understand what science is and is not. They have not really considered the sources of the many benefits of scientific endeavor that enrich their lives, but seem to think it is a hostile force, attempting to disprove... A Person of Faith

My dad once said, "I don't need faith, I've got knowledge!" I think it was a response to my asking him to have a little faith in me. It was, however, his scientist-mindset all around. Scientists seek knowledge, or as close as they can get to something they can claim as 'knowing.' At the same time, true scientists know they never know enough to say more than, "It looks like this is true with the information we have and the tests we can make." Push the Button

Reality can be very forgiving: We can go for years, even lifetimes believing something that isn't true simply because our belief never gets tested against Reality. Much of what we believe is inconsequential--until that day when it matters a lot whether we have it right or not. Because when it comes down to it, Reality doesn't care what anyone believes. Physics, Quantum Physics, and Paraphysics

The model of Reality that fits with my beliefs is not unique nor original with me. I couldn't say who proposed it in any formal terms, but I do know that it is basic to many cultural world-views: The Dreamtime of Australian aboriginal peoples is a great example of what I am now calling the Paraphysical Reality. Intuition

Intuition... That's the awareness that seems to come out of nowhere, a feeling of a truth so strong you're willing to believe it. Unless, subtle as it is, you ignore it. In fact, it is the voice of the subconscious mind. Where the conscious mind is logical, linear and verbal, there may be no apparent logic to how we come to an intuited truth. More on Tarot

I mentioned how many different versions of Tarot cards there are... There are also other kinds of divination cards that may or may not strictly speaking be called Tarot. A deck that someone read for me once was quite different. It was at the Rainbow Gathering in Washington's Okanagon region about 20 years ago. They were called Russian Gypsy Fortune Telling Cards.
