Physics, Quantum Physics, and Paraphysics

The model of Reality that fits with my beliefs is not unique nor original with me. I couldn't say who proposed it in any formal terms, but I do know that it is basic to many cultural world-views: The Dreamtime of Australian aboriginal peoples is a great example of what I am now calling the Paraphysical Reality. The model is visually, two-dimensionally like an archery target, composed of concentric rings. The central core represents the physical universe in which reality is defined by... Of Multiple Lives

Other Lives I would not live forever in a single suit of clothes. I would not care to memorize forever each stain and tear or keep track of every button lost. Thankfully, I forget from time to time, the progress and the passage and the passages through which I wend my way... The details of hard lessons, happily, escape me. It is enough, the thing I learned and moving on. Sign in to see full entry.

Intuition

Intuition... That's the awareness that seems to come out of nowhere, a feeling of a truth so strong you're willing to believe it. Unless, subtle as it is, you ignore it. In fact, it is the voice of the subconscious mind. Where the conscious mind is logical, linear and verbal, there may be no apparent logic to how we come to an intuited truth. The subconscious gathers up information from sources we are not even aware of noticing, and it assembles all those bits into whole pictures before we ever... Sign in to see full entry.

More on Tarot

I mentioned how many different versions of Tarot cards there are... There are also other kinds of divination cards that may or may not strictly speaking be called Tarot. A deck that someone read for me once was quite different. It was at the Rainbow Gathering in Washington's Okanagon region about 20 years ago. They were called Russian Gypsy Fortune Telling Cards. The cards are square, and divided diagonally each way to form 4 quarters, each full of symbols. When they are laid out side by side,... Sign in to see full entry.

Speaking of Tarot...

The Tarot cards come in many forms but basically the same format: the 'minor arcana' which are the basic suits that looks like a playing-card deck but with the addition of the Page, before the Knight of each suit; the 'major arcana' which is comprised of 22 individually named cards. The minor cards are generally interpreted as matters, events, and influences affecting the daily life, the present lifetime of the subject. Staves or Wands (clubs in the playing deck) focus on life itself; Hearts are... Sign in to see full entry.

Reading the Cards

There is a new blogger in our midst, who is focusing her writing on the Tarot. http://www.blogit.com/Blogs/Blog.aspx/SummerReas/ I read the cards years ago, finding I had the knack when I was in college, around the age of 18. The classic deck, the one called the Waite Deck, was designed in the 1800s with medieval images and symbols. There are many decks: Some are new artistic renderings of the classic symbols, others are based on other symbologies. Each card is a picture and each picture... Sign in to see full entry.

In the end, nothing material is real.

Imagine what we'd think if we watched a monkey in the zoo going to extraordinary lengths to get control of all the bananas. Grabbing all the bananas it can, snatching them from other monkeys, using tricks to get them and hide them, biting anyone who tries to take one, or keep one... Fear of future hunger drives this distorted mentality that is blind and deaf to anyone else's needs or happiness. It is an illness, a dysfunction, and it applies to all kinds of fears rooted in s urvival: animal... Sign in to see full entry.

The Pass/Fail Test

RPresta's previous comment leads to expanding in this direction from my previous post in this blog. Passing the tests of Reality means, at least, more sense of connection, 'one-ness' with Reality, the Divine, The Universe... however one defines that. When we 'go with the flow' of how things really are, we aren't fighting the current, we are making gentle progress. We have the option to use the easy flow to increase our own progress--like walking along the conveyer-walk in the airport to get... Sign in to see full entry.

To feel, to think, to understand...

Feelings are all very well, very important to being human and living among other people. Empathy is feeling, love is feeling, faith is feeling. Feelings are from deep down among our subconscious beliefs and desires; feelings are how the body communicates with the mind, how it reports on its current state of experience, especially when it likes or dislikes intensely! Reason, rationality, analysis, logic all derive from thinking, from consciously considering what we consciously observe about the... Sign in to see full entry.

Speaking of New Zealand...

Another thing that makes New Zealand kinda wonderful is a spiritual aliveness that permeates the country. When Europeans arrived with intent to stay and colonize, they met the Maori. The Maori (pronounced like 'cowrie') were not quiet folk like the original Australians or the first Americans who were first met by Europeans arriving on those shores. The Maori are a fierce people who welcome newcomers with the haka, a loud, body-slapping, face-making, weapon-waving dance that says, "Welcome, New... Sign in to see full entry.
