My personal belief is that death is the return of the body to the elements of earth, and the transition of the self to a place of greater awareness, greater knowing, a greater Self that extended some portion of itself to live through and learn through a lifetime as a human being in particular times and places. I believe that we as self/spirit/soul are on a journey of enlargement: the more we learn, the larger we become, the more complex, the more aware. We come here to this world to learn how to make choices: to experience the consequences of our choices, to learn what works to bring us closer to Light, and what doesn't work.

Your mother may have beliefs about death which are comforting, encouraging, or possibly frightening. She might not fear dying so much as leaving you and others behind. I wanted my mother to know before she left that I had forgiven all the unhappy things that happened between us, that I loved her despite all, and always had, even when I was angry. I wanted her to know that I did not feel that she owed me anything. My mom didn't believe in afterlives of any kind, did not believe in religion, and I don't know if she had any belief in a Supreme Being. It was not up to me to question her beliefs or promise her things that I believe in. I knew wherever she went, she would find what she needed to know.

We can get completely distracted from reality, by arguing about reality. Reality will enforce itself upon us, regardless of our foolish ideas.

But you did not tell us, what do you think about death? When you wake up, maybe you can tell us......

my 91-year old mother is weakening rapidly, and facing death right now. What should I tell her? I am open to any advice..... Cheers
