I just brought Lisa home! We have to be very careful of many things, and I need to watch and monitor sentence structure to be sure that her voice center continues to process things properly, but she is HOME! The dogs are ecstatic, and Lisa is pretty darn happy as well! Sign in to see full entry.

Good News
Lisa's lead doctor was in to see her today about 5:30 PM EST, late, but it was worth the wait. IF her EEG looks good tomorrow morning. IF she stays alert and appropriately responsive during the night. If her labs and vitals remain proper. IF all of that happens, they will let her come home to me... Sign in to see full entry.

I'm getting ready to go to bed. This was the last question I asked my wife before I left the hospital. Do you know why scuba divers fall out of the boat backwards? Because if they fell forward, they'd fall flat faced in the bottom of the boat. Sign in to see full entry.

History
It's after midnight, and I just got home after spending most of the day in the hospital with Lisa. She seems to be improving after this morning's minor setback, but I still worry about her. I've known this woman since roughly late 1999 through mid-2000, but only as a charge nurse/nurse. I thought... Sign in to see full entry.
Saturday Update
It's been a wild last thirty-six hours. Mostly a good kind of wild, but not all of it. My wife, and yes, I know her name, but the term *wife* is sacred to me and us, as Lisa frequently calls me *husband,* a phrase I love to hear from her. It refers to the bond that we hold between us - had a minor... Sign in to see full entry.

Phubbing - a modern and one of the most frequent phenomena of modern society. It means snubbing your interlocutor to look at your smartphone. Phubbing connects you with people who are far away. On the other hand, it distracts you from the people around you. Sign in to see full entry.
I will be heading over to spend most of the day with Lisa. It's only two blocks away now, but I still want and need to be with her. Yesterday was a better day for her as her acute sense of humor became more evident. We talked all day long and then, after I left to come home and care for the dogs, we... Sign in to see full entry.

I spent most of the day visiting my wife. I took some of her favorite articles of clothing for her. A nurse who happened to be in the room when I arrived asked me if I brought her in some 'sleep-wear,' which sent Lisa into a bit of a giggling spell. When the nurse asked what was funny about the... Just a warning. Lisa has her cell phone back, and she has learned to use the 'speak & type' interface on it. She said that she might 'drop in' later this afternoon or evening. She is doing much better, but that is in comparison to where she had fallen. She has a long trip back to full recovery. Both... Sign in to see full entry.

I have spent several hours with my wife in her hospital room. Lisa seems to be quite upbeat and was smiling and giggling with me. That is a massively huge change in things and I am very thankful. I don't know what lays ahead in the next few days other than some physical therapy for her hand and one... Sign in to see full entry.
