It was a rare day when Mama Superior was this calm, and this young couple took full advantage of it. This was taken over by Munising, and the land mass in the distance is Grand Island. I have no idea what caused this to happen, but I have never seen anything like this before or since. None of the animals seemed to be stressed or upset. All told, I counted 15 bears in this tree. I still have no explanation for this phenomenon. Sign in to see full entry.

I watched these two moose stand in the quiet, eddy waters where the Tahquamonenon River 'pouched' out for twenty minutes early one morning. They touched noses and stood just as you see them here as if they might have been brothers. It became an almost "holy moment" in the day's stillness. Sign in to see full entry.

This was taken about two years ago, at this time in 2020. It was 10 above, causing the water to seem to be steamy. The water in the great river is brown because of its high tannic acid due to the leaves and various grasses that grow in and around the shore. This particular set of falls was a mere 20... I've promised a few pics of our work, so here goes. This is the backyard. I took this several days ago, and we have done even more cleanup. This set of falls is just outside the town of Eagle River in the Keweenaw Peninsula, that big jut of land on the western shore of Lake Superior. It "falls" about 21 feet, and it is easy to get to from the road. One of my top ten falls in Michigan. Sign in to see full entry.
