Ru mi – You Are As You Are

Ru mi – You Are As You Are Yesterday, you made a promise. Today, you broke it. Yesterday, Bistami's dance. Today, dregs thrown out. In pieces, and at the same time, a perfect glass filled with sunlight. Give up on figuring the appearances, the dressing in green like a Sufi. You don't resemble anyone. You're not the bride or the groom. You don't fit in a house with a family. You've left the closed-in corner where you lived. Domestic animals Get ridden to work. Not you. You are as you are, an... Rumi

Love is the flame which, when it blazes, consumes everything other than the Beloved. The lover wields the sword of Nothingness in order to dispatch all but God: consider what remains after Nothing. There remains but God: all the rest is gone. Praise to you, O mighty Love, destroyer of all other "gods." -Mathnawi [V, 588-590] From "Jewels of Remembrance," by Rumi, selected and translated by Camille and Kabir Helminski, © 1996. By arrangement with Shambhala Publications, Inc., Boston,... Sign in to see full entry.

Hafiz - This Place Where You Are Right Now

This Place Where You Are Right Now This place where you are right now God circled on a map for you. Wherever your eyes and arms and heart can move Against the earth and sky, The Beloved has bowed there - Our Beloved has bowed there knowing You were coming. I could tell you a priceless secret about Your real worth, dear pilgrim, But any unkindness to your self, Any confusion about others, Will keep one From accepting the grace, the love, The sublime freedom Divine knowledge always offers to you.... Hafiz Ghazal 118

Hafiz حافظ Ghazal 118 Whoever holds a cup in hand Forever will rule over the land. The Water of Life that Elias found Seek in the tavern where cups stand. The essence of soul submit to the cup Rules of the cup are in command. We and the wine, pious and virtue Let’s see which ones He will demand. It is but a word from His lips For he who has wished and planned. Narcissus’s ways of drunkenness Were borrowed from His eye’s gland. My heart pictures Your face and hair This prayer my day and night... Sign in to see full entry.

Hafiz Ghazal 449

Hafiz حافظ Ghazal 449 O thou, who considers separation of lovers fair Keep lovers away from your side with your glare I am thirsty in my desert, lead me to clear waters With the hope of God's mercy, this path of yours you forbear. You stole my heart, dissolved my soul, but Better than you have treated me, of the others take care. When my foes drink their wine from my cup I cannot accept it, if fair you declare. Listen fly; Phoenix's flight-path is not your air You ruin your own name, and us you... Sign in to see full entry.

I am part of the load - Rumi

I am part of the load Not rightly balanced I drop off in the grass, like the old Cave-sleepers, to browse wherever I fall. For hundreds of thousands of years I have been dust-grains floating and flying in the will of the air, often forgetting ever being in that state, but in sleep I migrate back. I spring loose from the four-branched, time -and-space cross, this waiting room. I walk into a huge pasture I nurse the milk of millennia Everyone does this in different ways. Knowing that conscious... Sign in to see full entry.

The Man of God - Rumi

The man of God is drunken without wine, The man of God is full without meat. The man of God is distraught and bewildered, The man of God has no food or sleep. The man of God is a king "neath dervish-cloak, The man of God is a treasure in a ruin. The man of God is not of air and earth, The man of God is not of fire and water. The man of God is a boundless sea, The man of God rains pearls without a cloud. The man of God has hundred moons and skies, The man of God has hundred suns. The man of God... This is a gathering of Lovers.

This is a gathering of Lovers. In this gathering there is no high, no low, no smart, no ignorant, no special assembly, no grand discourse, no proper schooling required. There is no master, no disciple. This gathering is more like a drunken party, full of tricksters, fools, mad men and mad women. This is a gathering of Lovers. - Rumi Sign in to see full entry.

Exert Yourselves A Rumi excerpt

Exert Yourselves "Trust in God, yet tie the camel's leg.' Hear the adage, 'The worker is the friend of God'; Through trust in Providence neglect not to use means. Go, O Fatalists, practise trust with self-exertion, Exert yourself to attain your objects, bit by bit. In order to succeed, strive and exert yourselves; If you strive not for your objects, ye are fools." Sign in to see full entry.

You Worry Too Much - Rumi

You Worry Too Much Oh soul, you worry too much. You say, I make you feel dizzy. Of a little headache then, why do you worry? You say, I am your antelope. Of seeing a lion here and there why do you worry? Oh soul, you worry too much. You say, I am your moon-faced beauty. Of the cycles of the moon and passing of the years, why do you worry? You say, I am your source of passion, I excite you. Of playing into the Devils hand, why do you worry? Oh soul, you worry too much. Look at yourself, what you... Sign in to see full entry.
