Something I'm concerned about

This entry is something I've been debating about putting in here since it happened last month, and you will find out exactly why as you read along. I've found out through a confidential source (a source who has been in contact with my former boyfriend) that there is a good possibility that said... Sign in to see full entry.

Bucking the trend

Yesterday, I wrote about the case of Dave Pelzer. Many of you likely have read at least one of his first two books, A Child Called It and The Lost Boy. In that post, I talked about Pelzer's rehabilitation process, at least a little bit. I also made the point that at one time, people like Pelzer... Sign in to see full entry.

Recovering from abuse

Lately, I've been leafing through a series of books written by Dave Pelzer. For those of you who do not know who Pelzer is, he wrote a trilogy of books about his history of abuse - A Child Called It, The Lost Boy, and A Man Called Dave. At the time he was rescued by faculty members at his middle... Sign in to see full entry.

Keep your eyes on the prize: Another Jackson-related commentary

The title of this post is a deliberate choice on my part. Most of you are aware that Michael Jackson is black, and I purposely referred to the civil-rights mantra of the 1960s in the title. There is another prize at stake in his case - one not noted by the news media already making a sensation out... Sign in to see full entry.

Michael Jackson, quit shooting yourself in the foot!

I feel I have to weigh in on the legal problems Michael Jackson seems to be having. I also feel there is a wider underlying problem going on here that needs to be addressed - a problem not necessarily having anything to do with Jackson's guilt or innocence. First of all, I don't like the way Jackson... Sign in to see full entry.

Cops and domestic violence

Just this morning, I got a post from the most active domestic-violence e-group of which I'm a member. Although I don't agree with all of their political views - most of the list is feminist, and most of their attitudes were shaped by the definition of feminism prevalent when I was a child and... Distantly related to September 10, 2001

Two things spurred this post. The first is something I'd mentioned in the most popular blog I currently write, Potpourri. I would like to deal with the second in another post. I mentioned in Potpourri that on September 10, 2001 - the day before terrorists hit four places in America, including the... Sign in to see full entry.

Religious abuse

There was a small attempt on the part of some recovery gurus during the fad of the early 1990s to put this into the abuse lexicon. I submit that religious abuse is actually verbal abuse with religious language, rather than true religious abuse. Alternatively, what these people called religious abuse... Many of you know this already, but...

Today is the 40th anniversary of the Martin Luther King I have a dream speech. (I have posted the full text of this speech in Have we achieved The Dream?, and I would recommend strongly that you go to that blog to read the full text of the speech; the transcript of that famous speech is the first... For those of you who want to do so....

I will be attempting to put in a link for PayPal here so that you can donate. I tried the button provided by PayPal for donations, but as Editormum has said, the PayPal button (or at least the one they recommend) doesn't work. What I will have to do is re-learn how to put in a link to the PayPal... Sign in to see full entry.

About this Blog
The name of the post is derived from a Francis Schaeffer book, and intended to rebut something I'd seen on the Internet. The blog itself is about what I've learned about relationships from the ones I've had, and the ones I've observed. It will not be pleasant to read, and might wander off-topic occasionally, but is intended to be a long-term blog reading like a public journal.
