Orchid Plant When first I found I cared for you Instructions did not hang Upon your sleeve To warn me that to shower all My love on you would drown Your roots. Blooms shun Such pouring of affection shown. Then did I come upon An orchid plant, That called to mind the one I bought Before a fateful... Sign in to see full entry.

Annoyed at BookSurge

I want to use them as a printer, an on-demand printer that hooks directly into Amazon. So I set up my first book as two PDF files according to their specs, and fax in my signed copy of the "Publisher Agreement". I have to put in there when I will deliver the files. I figure that since I just need to... Sign in to see full entry.

How will we know when we are no longer good?

How will we know when we are no longer good? We will know when we deny the opportunity of this land to others because we fear we might lose money, when we even consider the monetary consequences of generosity. And that is precisely what is going on now. We will know when we expel the sojourners... Sign in to see full entry.

A "Max, I don’t believe I know you" Moment

A "Max, I don’t believe I know you" Moment Reaction to my plea for a repeal of immigration laws has been, quite frankly, disheartening. What I regard as a fundamental tenet of this American Republic, espoused by Emma Lazarus in her poem for the Statue of Liberty, the free and unencumbered... Sign in to see full entry.

The letter the New York Times didn't have the guts to print

To the Editor, In "Immigration Is Defying Easy Answers", Julia Preston notes the abundance of "illegal" immigrants currently residing in the U.S. However, those twelve million are surely dwarfed by the descendents of the Mayflower crew and passengers who were illegal and, realizing their own...
