Bear Fights

Bear Fights The Bear Fights are on tonight, A senseless image on the screen. Where mindless man meets a beast And what am I to make of that? Is it time for driveled rhyme When I am bored out of my gourd? What am I then to make of that? Turned down the volume on my eyes Lest my glasses impair my... Sign in to see full entry.

Remembered Steps, a Sonnet

Remembered Steps I take remembered steps of long past joy As if the dance will resurrect the hope That we soon for each other would employ The moves enticing bodies' hands to grope Then turn the dips to passionate embrace Electric touch of skin where limbs entwine Our love forgive each awkwardness... A Fragment

A Fragment To gaze into your liquid love Of languorous, longing eyes That lead my lips as stars above To your kisses' sweetest sighs. Copyright © 2007 by C. P. Klapper Sign in to see full entry.

My contribution to a MySpace blog-debate on premarital sex

I am one of those old fashioned types who dislikes using that cold, impersonal word "relationship" instead of "courtship", "romance" or "marriage". Even "dating" strikes me as more commercial than romantic, as a "kicking the tires" approach to finding love. To me, the attraction comes first and,... Sign in to see full entry.

Response to the "appeal to pragmatism" approach of Nautikos

Yes, it has been an interesting debate. Unfortunately, we each see each other's first step as impossible. Without a fundamental shift in popular opinion, the opposition from Muslim clerics will be too well supported to countenance the recognition of the state of Israel. Hence, it just ain't going to... What is the First step: Embracing Differences or knowing God is Love?

The problem is getting people to accept, let alone embrace differences. In Christianity, we have, of course, St. Peter's famous declaration in Acts10:34-35, but such sentiments are sadly rare in the annals of religion. The more common view is "My god is bigger than your god and says to kill you... Sign in to see full entry.

In response to Nautikos' comment here

I am well aware that many religious sects, major and minor, have become, as the Muslims may phrase it, "Houses of Pride and Power" rather than "Houses of Love". It would seem that the religious groups that eschew power and pride tend to be the ones that embrace Love. Even in Islam, there are the... Sign in to see full entry.

War, Ego and God

This is an extended comment on Ash Pradhan's poem "War" where it is suggested that by foregoing ego one might end the war in Iraq. Things are, of course, a little more subtle and complicated than that. The Iraq war, in particular, is complicated by the Arab-Israeli conflict which provides an excuse... Sign in to see full entry.

Black Hole, a sonnet

Black Hole Within the darkened chamber of my soul Where once had burned a full and gleaming star Imploded to my empty heart's black hole Which swallows Love's each glimmer, near or far And pulses its despair through time and space To the whole universe within the door. It locks new love from my... Sign in to see full entry.

The Hollow Man

The Hollow Man The Hollow Man I fully am The painful echoing inside Whose praises ring As the songs I sing An empty tear with which I cried The lonely hours fill my day Her visage in the mist An altar where alone I pray A shrine I never kissed My soul has been the sacrifice Its vapor burns my eyes...
