The phone went crazy yesterday. Aftermath of the 3-day weekend, I guess. Jo Ann even said it felt like a full moon around the Center, what with Baleful Betty moaning and griping because the Memorial Hospital nurse was two minutes late arriving to give the free A1C Diabetes tests. The nurse was... Sign in to see full entry.

Something from "Nothing"
Today's little venture into patworld is about... thread. Yarn, to be exact. Wool. And paper - not for writing on, but as a craft medium. At the Goshen Market three or four weeks ago I came across the booth of a family from Highland. They raise sheep, do the shearing, etc. The woman sends the wool to... Sign in to see full entry.

Job Change: a Labor Day Fable
Once upon a time there was a queen who tired of the court, her entourage, and all the pomp and pageantry that went with her position. She'd served graciously and well for thirty years, had married her king when he was but a prince and only second in line for the throne. As a young woman she'd... Sign in to see full entry.

Red Cross Donations
There's an organization in St. Louis that sends trucks out into the greater metro area to collect donations for various charities, including the Red Cross, homeless shelters, after-school programs, food pantries, etc. They take small appliances, household items, clothing. They call me at least twice... Sign in to see full entry.

Being Green Is Nothing New
When Mama brought baby James home from the hospital in May, 1940, she made me sit up in the middle of her big bed to hold him. He was adorable, wiggly inside the coccoon of receiving blanket. I sat on a patchwork quilt she'd made, the top was "plain" of alternating black and cream squares salvaged... Sign in to see full entry.

Writers Without Borders (because Borders closed)
We met last night. Vickie was waiting when I got there, tapping away in her new little Chromebook computer. Chris showed up a few minutes later. Martha didn't make it, she'd thought we were meeting Wed. & her hubby needed the car. But it was her idea that spurred a new direction for our group.... Sign in to see full entry.

About lost photo files...
Thanks so much for your ideas on how to fix Nicole's problem. She later posted to FB that a tech friend helped her recover much of it, but as a budding professional she had what she calls a 'raw' file - the originals that had not been digitally edited - that was totally wiped. The family photos,... Sign in to see full entry.

Ohhh, nooo...
My grandson's wife Nicole has become an accomplished photographer in the two-plus years they've been stationed at 29 Palms, CA. There was no job for her there, out in the desert. So she took up photography and in the next two years accumulated quite a portfolio of newborn babies snuggled in hand... Sign in to see full entry.

Statutory Question
The law professors at SLU are urging Ferguson's mayor to forgive all the unpaid tickets on the city's books. Many tickets have been there for several years, accumulating interest, debts owed by residents that they can never pay. Some have even spent time in jail in lieu of money. Forgiving these... About that RFID chip story
The guy who complained of manipultion by an Obamacare RFID chip had the story wrong, but he wasn't making it all up out of his own delusional imagination. We did some Googling and found there was fact behind the fantasy. A fake story was planted as a joke and went viral. The writer "documented" a... Sign in to see full entry.
