This morning he tested a clear positive for covid. Yesterday he got word that another attendee at the weekend larp tested positive, so it's no mystery where it comes from. Only how bad it will be, and how long it will last. For sure, his birthday/workshop opening party intended for next Sunday, will be postponed. If it doesn't last too long, if I don't also get it after close contact yesterday in the truck, and sitting down next to each other for breakfast, and if it isn't too debilitating,... Labor Day!
I was up before the sun today, first time that's happened in a while. Too late for bright lights in the heavens, but both of us were hungry. Pixie doesn't make much fuss of a morning, but generally jumps on the bed if she isn't there already, when I begin to stir. She purrs then when I pet her around the ears and under her throat and jumps down when she's had enough. But she isn't the type who stomps up and down on the bed--or me!--yelling for breakfast. Charlie is still out in southern Utah... Sign in to see full entry.

Vicarious Travelling and The Seat of Judgement
It's another day of delightful cool, and it will be like this until Wednesday, They say. Charlie is out at a park engaged in juggery-pokery, and after dropping him off, I came back home to indulge in another episode of The Amazing Race. It's an old one, season 2, filmed in 2002. Since then I've actually been to places they had on their itinerary: Sydney, Australia, and Queenstown, on the South Island of NZ, from where they went to Wellington and points north on the North Island. It's also fun to... Sign in to see full entry.

Friday Relief
Now, after 11am, I'm sitting with the door open to the deck, sitting here finishing the coffee that started out iced. The breeze is up, and clouds are gathering, and the forecast says thunderstorms will be starting up around 1pm, some scattered, some isolated, and some just... thunderstorms. Just the promise--along with temps in the low 70s--is energizing! Our first stop today will be the shop where the fire extinguisher is being tagged with a dated confirmation of use-worthiness. Then, it's to... Sign in to see full entry.

Oh, hi!
It's not as hot as other parts of the country, and more than usually humid for this area, but nothing as oppressive as the midwest is experiencing lately, so I am not complaining, but greatly looking forward to the mid-70s highs for tomorrow and Sunday, and even lower while it rains all day Saturday. I might need to just stand out in the rain with my face turned up into it! I hope it sweeps on eastward towards all my friends now under the heat dome! We got wifi at the shop today. The fella that... Sign in to see full entry.

Morning Sighs
This may be a rerun as I wrote it several years ago. Morning creeps in, My head is not ready for it. It glows against the mountain against the quiet clouds tinging all things golden as they brighten to full day... I am not ready wanting the landscapes still of dreams of comforter and bed pillowing my head in sleep, dayless, consciousless... Slowly, relentlessly day pushes out the shadows of the house; world sounds, the silence of the head and house... Body nags its various needs like the cat... Sign in to see full entry.

early morning, early night
Well, after a sweet and gentle week, looks like the heat is rising again this week as that heat dome over Texas expands north and eastwards. No storms are in the forecast to take the edge off, either. So... with a sigh, I prepare to sit it out next to my little a/c machine. We had an appointment with one of the internet providers to install at the workshop, but as it turned out, the necessary wiring doesn't exist without a whole lot more work and expense. So... tomorrow he'll call the other... Sign in to see full entry.

Weekend accomplishments
It's been a quiet weekend with kindly weather. Charlie is off larping with a new group up in the hills, took the Bustang to Denver and met up with a ride to the site. The car broke down, they had to wait for a pickup, but got to the site in due course. He got to debut his new character, a kind of fantasy world clown. He says it went well, and the character is a keeper. I've been working with some classic Irish yarn, Aran Wool, a bit rough to the touch, but nice colors. They're also a heavier... Hard news...
Just got word that the husband of a friend has passed away, the result of a fall that fractured his skull. He seemed to be recovering, but then suddenly didn't. He was a difficult man, a very difficult husband: causticly critical, meanly dismissive at times, an emotional bully... Think of an intellectual Archie Bunker. But he was also her husband for many years, and I watched her "Edith" come out from under his negating influence, learning to talk back and not absorb his line of meanness. In...
