There Was a Crooked Boy...

I met his mom at an ESP fair where we were both exhibitors. She asked me to 'look' at her son, a boy of about 9, who suffered from Tourette's Syndrome. He was not at the fair, but as time and space are no limitations on long-distance energy work, I did the reading. I did not at that time know much about the scientific or psychological model of Tourette's, though I had encountered it in real life a few years before, and had heard about it generally. I understood that Tourette's generally... Sign in to see full entry.

The day after... Meditation for Afters

Holiday gatherings are riots of energies! And among friends and family, it is so easy to lose our personal boundaries! Even when we are not physically with them, energy is shared with wishes and prayers, needs and desires. We pour our energies out to others, and they share theirs with us-- Intentions are good, and there is much of what's commonly considered "love" involved... We wonder and hope that what we give will be just right, that we will give joy and not disappoint, that our gifts will be... Sign in to see full entry.

"Why didn't I get more presents?"

This was the question my nearly-4 granddaughter asked this afternoon, after unwrapping one wonderful thing after another-- many that had been requested specifically, some mentioned in casual impulsive desire in the space between a commercial and a doting grandma (not this one, the other one...), and some a complete surprise and bafflement. Like socks. (My son, at about the age of 9, strolled into the kitchen in early December a few years ago, and said, as if it were the most casual of thoughts,... Sign in to see full entry.

Rainbow Girl

There is a woman who slumps along the streets of my town as she has for years, dressed in rainbow tie-dyes and muttering in alien tongues, smiling like an ambassador from another planet. Sometimes her hair is wild, other times, her head is shaved. Her skin is grey and smudged. There is a shadow that hangs over her rainbows. When she was 19, some 'friends' treated her, without her knowledge, to seven hits of acid that they thought wasn't very good stuff, and murdered her brain. I don't know her... Someone once asked how I decided whether or not to give to a beggar.

I was in New York City at the time, and there were beggars on the subway working the cars with a sob storyand a paper cup. There were nuns in pairs or threes sitting in corners of town with coffee cans and blessings. There were people sick and deranged muttering and chatting and complaining and asking for money as if spare change was an afterthought. There was a young man, a music student, playing Vivaldi down in one of the City's deepest subway tunnels, one of the old round ones with tiled... Sign in to see full entry.

Wind blowing the power out for days where I came from...

...four feet of snow on the ground where I am going next... What's happening where you are this holiday? And what do you wish for in the coming year? Plans, intentions? Dreams? I had a dream the other night that had in it grapevine like the one that puts out tendrils and leaves every year in my yard, but never has produced grapes. I dreamed I looked up and suddenly saw there were lovely lush clusters of grapes hanging from it, and they looked nearly, but not quite ripe and ready to eat. I woke... Sign in to see full entry.

Constuctive Afternoon

dateline December22,Silver Spring, Maryland: Two new housing starts rose in the neighborhood after lunch, each consisting of gingerbread & assorted confectionary. The first offers the future tenant an unusual roof shingled completely with Swedish fish, while the second includes a masonry chimney built of candy gravel mortared together with white icing. Building came to a halt when a sudden change in weather produced a flurry of shredded coconut. Pictures, January 11. Sign in to see full entry.

How I Do Go On!--'Universe... ' Table of Contents update

Since I reduced my blogs to one, my topics have ranged widely from the initial theme of the spiritual Big Picture. And while the content still has relevance to the title, I am sorting out the Big Picture items and adding them to this list for those of you who have been particularly interested in them. Here is the December 2006 updated Table of the Contents of this blog. There are 10 items per page, but here and there have been bits that must be considered as 'asides'-- so the page splits are not... Sign in to see full entry.

Chanukkah for the Non-Believer

A few years ago, we celebrated Channukah. We are not a Jewish family, but my first serious live-together relationship was with a man whose grandfather had been a chief Rabbi in Palestine, before the State of Israel was established. I, therefore, lived kosher for a year, and was invited to participate in three Passover Seders (I got along well with his mother, and she invited me even when he and I were no longer together). Then, a few years ago, a dear friend who was adopted at an early age and... Sign in to see full entry.

They didn't lose my luggage-- I just forgot I had 3 pieces checked...

So--my visit in Maryland began with a trip back to the airport to pick up the third bag. There's a reason they tell you to pack your medications in your carryon. This is the reason, and next time, I will be sure to do that... Sign in to see full entry.
