MAX, the 18 year old Dobie got lost.

I was sick about it and my neighbor's shattered and frightened face scared me, too. I drove all over the neighborhood, calling and peering under bushes, looking for his color and shape in and under and around everything, talking to eveyrone who was out and about..... Searched for a few hours and then passed the neighbor in her car and told her that I would make a flier. Went home, made a flier, no pictures, just huge bold words, minimal with phone number....my sister let me use her Xerox machine... Sign in to see full entry.

Giving it all away feels so very good.

I gave the daycare tons of juice can caps to use for crafting. Gave pillows and blankets and scarves and stockings and sweaters and stuffed animals, etc. away today and love the empty spaces that all that stuff created as it left here. I promised to go and paint faces at my sister's daycare center tomorrow on its 27th birthday. Picking up Mom and taking her, staying only two hours and then running Mom home. She said that she could do two hours. I got organized last year with my granddaughter,... Sign in to see full entry.

Grandma is out.

Nyquil both day and night for three days has kept me cemented to my bed. I welcome the liver damage, if it will just do the damage quietly, without my coughing anymore. I wake up to call Mom to say that I am still trying to outlive her, sort of, for one more day. My daughter calls me from Ft. Lauderdale when her Nyquil wears off and she awakes to imbibe another dose. We talk for a few minutes until the horrendous coughing begins and we must stop again for one more day. The dogs are locked into... Sign in to see full entry.

My son just came to see his wedding butterflies.

He frightened the dogs behind his sunglasses and refusing to let them touch his pretty clothes, as he just arrived in town for his Saturday wedding. He likes the butterflies that I made for each guest and approved the whole group. Good. Today is the rehearsal and dinner. Mom and I will walk him down the aisle, he said. Cool. The house is a wreck and there is no help for it. As long as I find every other activity on Earth more fun and appealing, I will always delegate housecleaning to the last... Grandma's house is scary, just in time for Halloween.

Spiders' webs fill the windows and big Daddy Long Legs bounce on them when I approach, warning me out of their neighborhoods. Scary. Dog fur pools and eddies along the furniture feet as I wander and I sweep less, so it floats more. It's that new scary, fur covered, fur dropping new white doggie. The dogs stay inside more now as the puppy, Mosinha, has discovered, as Autumn did a few years ago when she arrived, that my perimeters are permeable if one can jump high. I am licked and awakened and... Sign in to see full entry.

The tarps thwap on the porch, the windchimes tinkle and birds sing.

Happiness reigns, when all hell isn't breaking loose. We either have storms which snap telephone poles, rip off the roof, snap trees and create waters which send our cars spinning head over heels down arroyos and which capture dumb teenaged boys ever year, those who decide to swim in previously dead riverbeds and who don't die, and which force firefighters to rescue their dumb youthfully exhuberant selves, OR windchimes tinkle and birdies sing and make love in the bushes. We are in the sweeter... Sign in to see full entry.

They make tiny houses into townhouses next door.

Construction sounds abound some days. Mexican or cowboy music blasts from radios. I crank my Afro-Caribe music up to win the speaker battle. I work in clay and they hammer and paint. Baby calls me out to kick the soccer ball around periodically. Mosinha bites Baby's legs while she runs after the ball. Baby doesn't like this new player in her soccer game. Mosinha digs endlessly. Autumn mostly hides in her cave. I am housecleaning and organizing and trying to care more. The place looks better and... Sign in to see full entry.

Abuelita Benzinha Does Her Taxes and Weeps

When a person goes from no money to a little money, without bookkeeping skills, the doo doo begins to deepen. I should have bought Quick Books last year. I should have kept good records. I should have calculated and paid my little taxes quarterly. I should have studied up on this much more. I didn't. The doo doo deepens and the tax filing deadline approaches quickly and I am still trying to figure out just what happened last year and how to tell the IRS the story. They don't care for stories.... How Do You Sleep on a 15 hour flight from LA to Rio??

I have not been able to sleep on these flights and I always arrive ready to faint, vomit and kill someone standing in the customs line in front of me, but not really (about the killing of another gentle and suffering creature, but I may vomit or faint this time), because I am a patient and sweet old woman, but in my fantasies..... So, what?!?!?!? Neck brace, I heard something about an inflatable pilot's sleeping chair, hmmmmm.....bungie cords to attach the head to the seat top? To attach the... Sign in to see full entry.

Another Day in the WC, omigosh !!! Vegetarian Diet, help.....

So, I bought a blender that works and then pulled out my old juicer and then stirred up and whipped up some mango, watermelon, grape, orange, apple,!!! concoction and then drank it all morning long, out of a lovely large wine glass. Tres elegant..... Then, wham, stomach cramps and much running in a northerly, bathroom direction the rest of the morning, and long hours reading books in there. So, lesson learned and my newest advice, to avoid my foolish mistakes, start things more slowly, change... Sign in to see full entry.
