What a Santa I was !!

I bought the grandchildren computers and digital cameras and things like that. I wanted the non-reading grandson to have his own Reading Machine. My artistic granddaughter needed a camera for her new scrapbooking hobby. The other granddaughter needed one to play at being a phtographer. My youngest grandson, here in town, wanted flying planes and flipping cars, etc. So, he got them. Etc. etc. All the presents under the tree at Mom's house were from me to every single relative. All others had... Sign in to see full entry.

Thanksgiving in the New America

I abandoned my dirt filled house. Never put in a dog door and fail to plant grass all over the back garden. I have eight inches of soft powdery dirt on absolutely everything. I drove up to Mom's house to gather for the ride over to my sister's house for our Thanksgiving meal. My sister called about two hours later wondering why the heck we were staying at Mom's talking when we were supposed to be at her house. We all left laughing (about twenty of us). At my sister's house there were two cooks... Sign in to see full entry.

Soft Old Cotton Towels

I am not the kind of person who is impressed with fabulously colored Versache or Spa Nova pastel sea foam towels. And those heavy new bath robes are much too thick and heavy for this old lady to stand inside of, I collapse under the weight!! Their towels are too thick and soak up nothing and are much too heavy to hold up, especially the huge new ones all in vogue now. Who can lift them up onto the clothes line to pin up to dry, they are too huge and heavy when wet??!! I like towels to be about... Sign in to see full entry.

Creating Personal New Waterways in the Desert Southwest

So, the swamp cooler set-up man cannot come to set up the cooler for over five days and those five days will have temperatures in the 95 degrees Fahrenheit range. What is an older woman to do for a much older woman under these circumstances? Volunteer, of course. So, I put on an old white cotton long sleeved business shirt of my deceased father, the better to reflect vicious sun light off of my person while on my mother’s roof. Loose jeans and tennies finish the work ensemble. I tied an old... Sign in to see full entry.

I am now a Penta Abuelita !!! Faraway Baby, I shall call him.

My oldest son and his lovely wife had a baby yesterday, my newest grandson, Rowan. He is my fifth grandchild. He is 8 pounds and 2.4 ounces. When I asked his size, my son said, "He's 20 something inches long." I asked if I could tell people that he was 27 inches long and he said that he could possibly be that, as they measure the babies very 'haphazardly' in his opinion. They are all doing well, with just a few little problems and so, I am beyond pleased. This is the first grandchild that has... Sign in to see full entry.

Went to the W:aK Pow Wow @ San Xavier Mission today.....lovely.

It was a hot and sunny day. The sky was robin's egg blue with two small tufts of cloud near a mountain top, but so tiny as to be just a romantic detail. We had three days of 80+, close to 90 degrees of sunshine. Lovely for everyone but the dancers in their ornate costumes. We parked for $2 in the lot in front of the school. Then we went to buy some fry bread. I bought plain, my daughter bought an elaborate green chile bread. Then we wandered from the food booths in front of the Mission, which is... What a Day Hereabouts!!!

I did take the grandchildren to the Dog Park after our sleep over on Saturday. It had rained and we were alone on the big dog side. The puppy side was full. The kids watched through the fencing and wished that we had a puppy to take over there. Then a couple arrived with a huge, and I mean huge German Shepherd. They took it off its leash and I warned the grandchildren that it was coming, running at full speed to where we all stood. We worried about Autumn attacking it at that rate of approach.... Today is my birthday and we're about to hit the town and paint it red.

I asked the grandchildren, when they asked me what I wanted for my birthday, I asked them if they could come and spend one day and night at my house, just the five of us, as my birthday present. They all begged their parents and so it is, so it shall be. They all arrive in ten minutes, so I have to run. I have dressed warmly. We shall begin the day by going to see the exhibit of the shoes of the soldiers who have died in Iraq, only because I like installations and to begin things soberly. I hope... NEO PETS and dust rags............

We celebrate the Rodeo here in Arizona and my granddaughter had no school. She is eleven and came to stay with me for two days, Thursday and Friday. We washed my heretofore unwashed dishes. They had sat for one month, while I ate off of plastic and paper plates. Lazy? No, just too busy, I'll answer. She dusted my Venetian blinds on all windows, dusted off book shelves and swept the floor. Her mother said that she had sent her over to help me out. We worked very hard that first day, doing laundry... Sign in to see full entry.
