My garden is half a disaster.

A storm ripped the bougainvillea off the back wall. Must tie it up again. I have raked all into piles, but the garbage cans are full of what I did already. Cactus is dead everywhere and I must gather it into boxes before Sept. 20th when bulk pick up arrives. No time and it is too darned hot in... Sign in to see full entry.

Dry summer and the garden drops leaves, droops and despairs like me.

My mother's Exquisite Little Patio lives, so I may just take all potted things up there. I may pull out and pot all else that I care about. Then, I'll have to help her with her water bill. Watering her garden and feeding her dogs are her only two required activities in life. Let me add to her burden... Sign in to see full entry.

How to pick weeds when you have one million.

We had blessed rains this year, such rains and the weeds are everywhere. The desert has a green carpet on it covering everything between the cacti and bushes. Amazing. Flowers like seldom seen on this Earth in this town. The weeds are a carpet across the city. My land out front is covered. I began... Sign in to see full entry.

Reposting 2003, ...

I sat reading the paper in the garden and drinking coffee and then..... This Crazy Old Woman Just Swallowed a Fly, Perhaps I'll Die. There was an old woman who saw a fly in her coffee cup and followed through on her swallow, in spite of that. Maybe it didn't register in my demented old mind until... Sign in to see full entry.

I betray so many, but not the birds. I have not yet betrayed them.

Money has gotten really tight this past year and I have made myself do what I don't do often enough, pay bills first, buy food for the dogs and then myself and finally the birds. We have had a cold and wet winter, so uncharacteristic of Tucson in the recent decade, drought plagued and water starved.... Sign in to see full entry.

My garden has been 'scooped' and bagged and I have filled in the holes

along the walkways. However, minutes later, the holes had reappeared and the dogs had begun to poop again. Feeling a bit like Sysiphus. It rained last night and a bit today, just a tiny bit. Not enough to measure again, I'm sure, but enough to wash some leaves around town, for better breathing. My... Sign in to see full entry.

Retiring into my own back yard. Turns out Tucson is best.

I cut and pasted this........."BusinessWeek has published their latest survey of the best places to live and tops on the list is Tucson, Arizona. With 284 sunny days and a cost of living index of 109.44, so close to average (100) in the US. Tucson, home of the University of Arizona, is a scenic,... Sign in to see full entry.

Raked and hauled things away and still it is a mess. Sigh...

My back porch is now ready for meals to be eaten outdoors on the tabel on the back porch and I have put the mobile kitchen cabinet out there for serving and for putting away supplies that have no space in the tiny kitchen. I cleaned off shelving and threw away MUCHO for the bulk pick up trucks to... Sign in to see full entry.

If you are jealous of the greener lawns and pastures on the other side of

your own fences, consider this. It is the abundance of BS and cow manure over there that is causing it all. Tend your own garden.......... Sign in to see full entry.
