Started at 5 a.m. and finished at 9:15 a.m. and thought I'd die...
I went to get my little foreign student granddaughter so that she could go through the boxes on my back porch. She had said that she was sure to be able to get her things into 6 boxes for the Amtrak ride to Wisconsin. HAH! We have filled 8 at her dormitory already and there is more left over there....

It is presently raining very hard outside, just at dusk.
My old bones ached all day, waiting for this. I danced some rain dances and prayed some rain prayers and asked for two hours of rain today. May it come true. My big old trees and those next door and down the street could really use a break from this endless drought. I watered for two hours this...

The Sunrise and Sunset Gardener
I am getting so much done, working like an ant at about 5:00 a.m., a little each day, never stopping until wiped out when the sun hits my head at about 7:30 a.m. I go out to work again when the sun hangs over the western mountains, just barely visible, say 6:30 p.m., until it disappears at about 8...

Foolish old gardener. Plant in January, plant in January...
So, I gave the landlord extra money for water last month and watered the areas that I seeded with flowers and grasses and NADA. NADA. Not one blade of grass, though the old bermuda grass is forming good root systems and thinking about walking together some, not one little grass seedling appeared....

I made a little 8' by 2' bed for lavender. Old lace and lavender...
An older woman's olfactory organs must change from their youthful preferences. I love lavender now. I have lavender Baby Powder, Baby Oil, perfume, soap, room deodorizing spray and Healing Garden hand cream. Oh, and shampoo and conditioner. Gosh.....and now I have a three inch deep topsoil layer on...

Grandma's Garden is soaking wet and cold and gray and wonderful.
It was so hot last week that everyone in Tucson broke out their t-shirts, shorts and flip flops and put their tentative collective toes into the water of their pools. Too cold to swim, we like the water to be at about 86 degrees F, but too hot each day to stay inside anymore. The desert begins to...

My neighbors have music wafting out their front door. I thought that it was
a cd. Then the music stopped and a drummer tried some new riffs and then the bass joined in. They stopped and then started again with a sax and keyboard chiming in. What fun!!! Live music. I stayed in the back garden playing with the dogs, listening to music that reminded me of Rio in the 60's....

My garden is raked, but joyless. It is organized but empty. Hmmmmm...
I watered today for a little while. I need to go do that some more. I decided to garden just as it was time to leave the house to go babysit my friend's foster kids. So, I played WAR with cards first and then, SCRABBLE. I hadn't played Scrabble in years. That really was fun, stressful but fun. I...

I am gardening as my gym time.
If I were well, I think that I would go dance. So, I pull out the rake and do that instead, as it is done at home and in pyjamas if I like. Yesterday I raked the back garden and today the front. Because I do it daily now, there is not much to do, unless a storm hits and dumps things into the garden....

My garden is whistling a happy tune. It rained all day.
The sun shone all last week, to a point where I felt a bit burned one day. The itty bitty baby weeds are sendingup their first shoots. The good news is that over the years I have removed most as they appear and so, there are very few seeds to grow. The bad news is that the big show is out front of...
