It's not all concrete, glass and steel standing there all businesslike--

This city that has been building since the 1600s is the historical architect's dreamland. I love the fanciful, beautiful and sometimes grotesque ornamentation of the buildings. Portland, yes no? Some open-ended pondering...

Husband is off to Portland for a fencing tournament this weekend--thinking I might go along, and head out to the coast, see if the sea lions are still basking on the Astoria piers... Can anyone tell me what this petty little blossoming tree is?

They are a distinctly purpler pink than the cherry blossoms, and quite a different shaped flower, too. They are blooming all around Maryland, and I saw a lot of them in New York, as well.
