We spent all day--9 hours! at the National Zoo in Washington, DC. It was hot and sunny, and not as sweaty as it might be... The animals, of course, were cool... The day was hot, but not where we were--Charlie, the Young Lads and I picked up the other local Nana (Zoe's other grandma isn't really theirs, but on the other hand, there is no one more everyone's grandma than Nana!) and we drove out to the edge of the Chesapeake Bay. About 2 hours from Washington, DC there are at least two cavern systems to visit. We went to Luray Caverns this time. (The other is Skyline Caverns, and also fascinating and beautiful.)
