Pueblo, CO

Most Americans know of Pueblo, Colorado only if they have ever sent away for government brochures, but there's a lot more in this town than US Govt. brochure warehouses. Over the hills, not too far away

Treated myself to a half-day road trip today, going from Palmer Lake, CO westward, just exploring, enjoying discovering a landscape I have not seen before. I-70!

Charlie took all the pictures along the road, and mine are the viewpoint shots of trees and landscapes. You can probably tell the difference: he has his own eye with the lens! It's after 4 am...

and I am awake, and my brain seems to be working again more or less properly. I've prepared more photos for you, of a few miles of Oregon, not much of Idaho, and a fair bit of the stretch of I-84 and I-80 on the border of Utah and Wyoming. That was day before yesterday, now. There is a hill...

It rises east of Pendleton, Oregon, a 3-lane highway with gradients from 2 to 8% for 10 miles. It was one of the particular things on today's route I had some worries about--that hill, and high winds in the Columbia River Gorge. My distance-seeing glasses did not arrive, so we left without em, and I will manage until I get back to Olympia where my glasses credit will be available with the actual health benefits I have there... and so will essentially be a free 'spare pair.' Here we almost go...

The roadtrip to California and thence to Olympia begins today, sometime this afternoon. The morning may begin with selling the old RV to someone who came by and knocked on the door to enquire about it yesterday.
