Living in the Shadows

Chapter XXIV Jessica stared into the darkness and felt the wind blowing the dark strands of her hair. She watched in quiet desperation as Damon lugged an unconscious Aron away. She couldn’t help not trusting Damon. Jessica lifted her chin and stared daringly at Damon’s departing back, wishing she had could throw her knife at it. Chapter XXIII Jessica and Aron looked up as Damon appeared in the doorway. “What was that about?” Jessica asked barely containing her anger. Damon shrugged. “He said he didn’t have it.” He smiled dangerously. “I just wanted to make sure.” Jessica took a step toward him. “What did you do?” She yelled. “Jessica,” Aron said grabbing at her. “Knock it off,” he said glaring at Damon. Chapter XXII “Ok,” Jessica said as they arrived at the house. “How are we going to do this?” “Like this,” Damon said as he opened the door. “Damon, no.” Jessica whispered. Damon didn’t even bother to look back at her as he walked in the house. Aron glanced at Jessica and they followed behind him. Chapter XXI Jessica stared across the room at the people whom a few days ago she hadn’t even known. She locked eyes with the one that had brought her into this world. They were in this together.
