My thoughts on time travel. Does it also fascinate you?

Since the 8 th grade, when I discovered science fiction, the subject of time travel has filled many weeks worth of my thoughts and fantasies, if you add up all the hours it has occupied my mind. You have to admit that the possibility that you or anyone, could go from today, to another TIME (!) opens new doors and new questions about paradoxes, changing history, thereby the future, etc. and anyone I know would be fascinated to explore the different paths humanity could take, depending on... Sorry NFL, the answer is NO! Put away the checkbook.

When I hear about young men signing a $5,000,000 contract to play football, straight from school, I say to myself, “Wouldn’t it be great to be born big enough, fast enough, talented enough and athletic? If I were offered big bucks to play sports, I’d snap it up in a flash!” It does sound attractive, if you don’t factor in the risk of having a broken neck, multiple concussions leaving you a rich moron and a different person than when you started playing the sport. “Playing” doesn’t describe what... Without pets, we would be less human.

How can people abuse animals and face themselves in a mirror? Animals are absolutely devoted to us and innocent as a newborn baby, regardless of whether we deserve it or if we neglect their needs or take out frustrations on them. They love us anyway. I am owned by a sixteen+ year old cat, named Bonkers (after my ex-wife) and a loving and lovable small black hairball of a dog named Tarbaby. We call him Baby, because some might think that I’m a racist, because of the name I gave him. Many years... Sign in to see full entry.

The only thing that doesn't ever change, is change itself!

I’ve no idea what I did to offend the cyber-gods, but they seem to have it in for me! In about a week I’ve TWICE been unable to log in or on or whatever the correct term is. Then I have to go to Jackie (bless her!) on the blogit team to find out what I have to do to sign back in. Blogit’s statement that they’ll get back to writers in “about one business day” is an optimistic guess, at best. What frustrates me is that I didn’t do anything to change my settings, when the computer just decided on... Sign in to see full entry.

News programs, bad news/good news, vs NO news!

I’m a news junkie I can’t deny it. I understand why people swear off watching news reports because nearly each story is about somebody’s tragedy, a new terror threat, police brutally throwing their weight around, and proving that “serve and protect” needs a bit more work. The news producers occasionally throw in a human-interest story, like the three bears having fun in a hammock, but mostly the news is BAD news. Each political season gives me a tight gut, because lies are most politicians’... Sign in to see full entry.

Allow me to introduce myself, call me Northsage, Guy or screwball!

Because I’ve been with my lady, Marilyn for about sixteen years, to her 8+ and 6+ year-old grandkids, I’ll always be “Granpa.” These two scamps are named Ivy and D.J. (for Donald Jr.) Ivy is a savvy, skeptical, precocious, modern, street-smart tweenager of the 21 st century. She is also one very evil female, if that’s not actually redundant. D.J. is sometimes her evil younger twin, but is usually good-natured, unlike any of his blood relatives. He appears to be about as bright as his father,... Sign in to see full entry.

Here goes, the big change!

I finally got the instructions from Blogit on how to change categories, to "Everything else." I'm still going to give this a try. Let's hope it turns out to be a good change. As I said, we humans resist change, instinctively. Nothing ventured, nothing gained! I hope to keep my friends from my previous categories.("Pets"and then "Humor") I'll still be reading my old friends and hope you read me in "Everything else". Thanks for a good time and good friends! Bears and pigs and cops (redundant?) Baby and Me! Oh my!

Autumn is without a doubt, the most beautiful season. As the grasses brown, the colors of the wildflowers pop; making the fields that looked only green during the summer, look like a bouquet weeks later. Maybe knowing that snowdrifts and howling blizzards are just around the corner makes fall even sweeter. Spring is mostly too cold with mud and slush, summer is too hot and grass needs cutting almost each weekend. The only thing that winter has going for it is the fact that you can cocoon indoors... Islands of refuge are lovely! Trust me on this one!

A couple of days ago, I found my earphones for the TV, again. They had been hidden by Marilyn or me; I’m not sure which. I may have hidden them from her, (she hates that I can use them to tune her out,) and she may have secreted them somewhere, so that I couldn’t use them. Anyway, it is HEAVEN to be able to simply put on the headphones, and all the yelling and swearing cannot interrupt my both seeing and hearing the program that I would MUCH prefer to experience without their distracting me from... Current events make that cave look more and more inviting!

OJ Simpson is an armed robber? It sounds as though he has switched from a knife to guns, because your clothing stays cleaner if things get out of control. Maybe it was because the police never gave him his “lucky stabbing cap” back and he still has a shooting hat. If he must part with all income he earns, sports memorabilia appears to have become his new money. How many rookie cards and signed footballs does it take to buy a car, I wonder. Somebody must have quite a set of spheres on them to... Sign in to see full entry.
