Where do your beliefs come from?

A few days ago AMDG and I were debating and I said 'while you of course are using the Bible for the whole basic of your point of view.' I could never hope to understand God

Now this is very often what I am told by those who believe in God and you know something? I agree with them. Even with my own ideas of what is out there that could be called 'God', for lack of a better term, I have no real hope of understanding whatever it is. But if no one can even understand 'God'... God just put nipples on everything then?

So here we have the idea that God created us flawed as we are. Why? Because he wanted us to learn and grow and all that. Why? If God is perfect and all powerful he should be able to just create us as fully understanding creatures who see the light already. Just the idea that God 'gave' us free will... Having nipples is all the proof I need

They need everything to be black and white

It seems to me that a big part of religion is dividing everything into what is right and what is wrong. Often it makes it very clear what things a good and what are bad, with no exceptions (Even though it is often not followed). There is no area of gray when it comes to the ideas taught by religion....
