A suggestion reposted on the subject of blogger violations.
I am reposting this suggestion, following the banning of Passionflower. I offered you these thoughts on December 19th and I strongly feel that if you'd instituted the 'Notify Blogit' button, many of the comments + posts leading to the latest crisis would have been brought to your attention early so that you could have prevented the loss of another blogger and the offending of many others, not just those directly involved, but indeed moreover those who are quietly posting unoffensive material in order to attempt to enjoy this site.
Policy Violations / Concern for a blogger
With regard to the recent banning of Blanche, I would like to suggest an improvement to the reporting system so that bloggers find it easier to report violations (and concerns) that they see. If we were encouraged to report violations earlier, then perhaps the Blanche banning might have been avoided and all the hurt that took place too.
At the moment, via the "Conduct Policy" or "Help" links, it is difficult to report concerns we might have. The form takes time to find and you need to know how to copy a link in order to draw attention to a post or comment.
What I would like to suggest is that you create a "Notify Blogit" link next to every post and every comment.
As it does now, your email address would appear, but also the link for the post or comment would be automatically generated.
A form would appear with a drop-down list or checklist where bloggers can indicate which part of the Conduct Policy they are reporting upon. There should also be a box which says: "Other Concern", as we might want to alert you to information which is not a violation.
The current text box for further details should also be included.
At the moment I feel the Blogit 'law' is being taken into private hands when we've got a perfectly good system for tackling violations. It's the reporting that is difficult.
I appreciate this might create extra work in the short term, both with the set-up and the extra reporting it will generate, but in the long term, it will foster a safer environment and may lead to more bloggers using the site.
Thanks for considering this.

Next set of changes?
Can you tell us when the next round of Blogit improvements will be and what changes you are considering.
Thanks.

Blogit Toolbar Upgrade
- A reorganized layout with icons grouped together by category so it's easier to find what you're looking for -- like the toolbar in Microsoft's new Office 2007.
- Microsoft Word-like inline spellcheck (no annoying separate dialog box).
- Improved performance on the new Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 2 web browsers.
- Various bug fixes for all web browsers.

Just posted and saved my new entry but can't get through. Why so? Is there a problem with my subscription? My last posting was January 4.
Wanderings and Wonderings by Mayflower

Some statistics that worry me and should worry you:
- 2004: the News section of Blogit made 21 separate announcements, effecting a whole host of improvements.
- 2005: there were 13 separate announcements, including 23 separate changes that directly affected our blogging experience.
- 2006: there were 4 announcements, of which 2 directly enhanced Blogit: an upgrade to the Search facility in January & an upgrade to the toolbar in October.
And at the same time:
- 1st 500K comments 26 months - a promising build-up
- 2nd 500K comments 10 months (Aug 2005) - excellent growth
- 3rd 500K comments 10 months (June 2006) - stagnation
- 4th 500K comments 10 months (est April 2007) - stagnation
The period of stagnation seems to directly correspond to a reduction in involvement from the administration of Blogit. You could call it a plateau, but where do we go from here? Up or down? Or are you completely happy with the status quo? I'm not. And to be constantly fobbed off with a promise of what's to come is just not good enough. This site needs action, not words, from you, our leader(s). Your subscribers have continued to pay and produce content throughout 2006, but where was the input from you?
I strongly feel that lack of investment from Blogit administration is ruining Blogit.
Sort it out, please.

Blogit is rubbish. Make it better before we all leave.
Currently, I wouldn't recommend Blogit to anyone. I stay because of some vain hope that the site is going to improve and grow. I really ought to take down the links I have placed in writings outside of Blogit as I don't want to be blamed for the disappointment that might be felt by a new arrival here.
When is Blogit going to resume the regular updating of the site that used to happen? The last piece in the News section was four months ago. Countless suggestions have gone by in these pages with none of them being adopted. The site is stagnant and its members are being short-changed, in my opinion.
My interest is waning, as is that of other members, new and old alike. If the 'Blogit Team' does truly want this site to last, then why oh why don't you start to run the site with an enthusiasm that matches its members?
And I don't want the usual "Thankyou, we will consider your thoughts in the next round of improvements" - what I want is THE NEXT ROUND OF IMPROVEMENTS!
Let the owner read this, because there won't be anything left to own if you're not careful.
Not happy.
