Come fly with me.

A dirt bike is like a bull, you gotta take it by the horns, er, handlebars. A lot of dirt bikes don’t have kick stands, so to start one, you have to be able to straddle the machine keeping your left foot on the ground and stroke the kick starter with your right foot. On uneven ground this can be... Sign in to see full entry.

Nathan Ramsey takes helmet cam for a ride.

Amp’d Mobile World Supercross visited the city of Vancouver B.C. and in the Supercross Lites division, Nathan Ramsey was sporting the helmet cam. The helmet cam and Nathan took first place in what was most certainly not a light weight race. Give Speed Channel kudos for fantastic shots from the... Sign in to see full entry.

Number 7 proves to be a mover in Vancouver.

James Stewart is wasting no time putting the challenge to the Supercross premier riders. Vancouver British Columbia saw him grab an early lead and stretch it out to some 10 seconds over Ricky Carmichael and 20 seconds over Chad Reed. He had lapped the 5 th place rider leaving only himself, Ricky,... Sign in to see full entry.

Gravely injured girl rides again.

Shiree Howell spent three months in a coma after a traumatic injury while practicing riding her dirt bike at the Extreme motorsports complex in Airway Heights Washington. She regained consciousness and slowly got her life back to as close to normal as possible. Two weeks ago, my son Nathan saw her... Sign in to see full entry.

Bird’s eye view.

The Toronto round of the Amp’d Mobile World Supercross series on Speed Channel featured helmet cam shots that were out of this world. Maybe it was my son’s 60” projection TV that added to the realism but the helmet shots almost made me carsick and when the rider aired it out over a triple I was... Sign in to see full entry.

Lucky seven.

Toronto saw the start of the North American Supercross season begin with a hard fought race between James Stewart sporting his new number 7 and Ricky Carmichael wearing his customary number 4. Back and forth they went swapping the lead. At one point James appeared to have a sure pass on Ricky but... Sign in to see full entry.

Toronto Amp’d for Supercross.

And so the season begins. With competitors realizing the importance of getting an early start, the two rounds in Canada, one in Toronto, the other in Vancouver are the rounds that effectively delineate the SX GP series from the regular Supercross series. I have seen that James Stewart and Chad Reed... Sign in to see full entry.

Dirt bikes in the snow.

Two wheels and that slick slidey stuff don’t mix. Yes, I have ridden a dirt bike through snow. Usually, early in the year on the shady side of the mountain tops one will encounter patches of snow here and there. The technique is simple, easy does it and both feet down like outriggers. Of course we... Sign in to see full entry.
