Just a Little Appreciation?

2006 2005 My daughter has moved home, sans fiancé this time, for a few months. She moved into the guest room, where my Christmas decoration boxes were stored. They had moved into the basement the year before and there went my storage space. Of course, she didn't want to live in storage with my boxes of tree ornaments! The boxes ended up piled in the living room, where they've sat for the last three weeks. Half of the boxes were downstairs again, since the fiancé is now living at his parents.... Heart Throb - Paul Newman

A true story... A Michigan woman & her family were vacationing in a small New England town where Paul Newman & his family often visited. One Sunday morning, the woman got up early to take a long walk and after a brisk five-mile hike, she decided to treat herself to a double-dip chocolate ice cream cone. She hopped in the car, drove to the center of the village & went straight to the combination bakery/ice cream parlor. There was only one other patron in the store, Paul Newman, sitting at the... The Lassie Dog

This beautiful boy was our very first rescued dog. A German Shepherd/Collie Mix, Jay and I named him Rudy. We found him at Lake Pomona, where we were camping with my parents for a week. We were newlyweds of 2 months. Rudy was about a 4 month old pup. We found him eating a flattened catfish head in the road. Some other campers said they had been there for two weeks and he appeared to be a stray. We had talked about getting a dog, so Rudy was adopted on the spot. He lived to be 13. We had to put... Live for Today!

For me, all the little things that happen each day are just challenges to our ability to be in the moment. I've found that it's when I am not "in the moment" that is when things happen or when I react rather then accept. ~~Sannhet~~ This is so true. If you dwell in the "I shouldas" and the "maybe ifs" it is impossible to accept what IS, today, right now. Positive affirmations are to be written in the present time. When I started this in the seventies, my husband joined in. You write your goal in... Sign in to see full entry.

Playing Cupid

Playing Cupid a story by --Chera Lee Bammerlin I was lying on the slick tile floor of my college dorm room chatting with my younger sister (by a year and a half) about the latest gossip in our little community while twirling the black phone cord around my fingers. Deep in the mire of love, she was gushing about an all important upcoming date she and Mr. Be-All-End-All's first anniversary of dating. She was in a state of would he remember or would he forget? If he did forget, what did that mean... Sign in to see full entry.

Long Distance Friendship Should Grow; Even Love

Belief Statement: I believe: That true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. Same goes for true love. I have wondered about this belief statement for a long time. I realized I was placing all my apples in a "Mike Basket" and the bottom of THAT basket kept falling out. One of the apples was rotten and it took my belief in this statement and spoiled it as well. You know what they say about one bad apple is all it takes to ruin the whole basket. It was a slimy mess when it... Sign in to see full entry.

Hormone Hostage

The last one in the chart gave my Jay and I a giggle. He's grown an aversion to me spending too much time in my robe. He's also asked me the first question after a day of blogging and reading! He now brings me wine, back in the office, at the computer! Sign in to see full entry.

Love is Like Fine Wine . . .

As the cold rain continued to come down steadily outside, Jay and I walked through a very pricey but beautiful, cozy shoppe, full of wonderful antiques. They reminded me of my Grandma Smith's old farmhouse actually, but they were massive and very country French or is it French country. Jay had been to The Curious Sofa before and now he was delighting in showing it to me. There WAS a sofa we both loved was covered in French silk, was deep enough to sleep two, with wonderful cushions. It had the... Sign in to see full entry.

It's Almost Valentine's Day. . .

I had a great birthday Feb 12th, thank you very much! We looked out the windows to see five inches of snow this morning --- the end results of the blizzard we drove through getting home last night. We chose to go to Kansas City knowing that a storm was on it's way and we might be driving home in it. We drove our Ford Escape and it handled the sleet and snow and deep slush just beautifully. I will back the story up to when we left home. It was threatening to rain. I had been up in the middle of... Sign in to see full entry.

What Do the Guys Feel About V-Day?

What do the guys really think about Valentine's Day? The KC Star interviewed five men. Two were in their twenties and single, one was 35 and almost engaged, the other was 37 and married 4 years. The fifth one was 53, divorced and available. He said he had picked up some good tips. His hope was that the younger guys didn't sound like him in 25 years! I would say that the guys felt it's a hyped up holiday designed to make Hallmark cards a lot of money and appease the women! One said they felt they... Sign in to see full entry.
