HAUNTING THE BEAUTY SHOP!

No...No this is not about a ghost who haunts a beauty shop. Hummm...I just wonder if there is one. A ghost in a beauty shop, that is. I bet there is. You see I used to haunt a beauty shop, sort of. Mom would take me with her when she got her hair fixed. Her hairdresser was a old friend. Actually mom had hired her to work at the phone company when she was just out of high school. That didn't work out; so she became a hairdresser. The time I am speaking of she actually owned her own beauty shop!... Sign in to see full entry.

SOMEONE'S WATCHING!

Do you ever get the feeling that someone is watching you? Then you look around and no one is there. I know at least once I kept getting that feeling while waiting for my dad at the Doctor's office. I finally spotted a hidden camera behind the potted plants. I'm not sure why that was in the waiting room. I did see the monitor when I went back to talk to the Doctor. Now I got that feeling the other day when I met a couple of friends for lunch at Las MaAnitas. If you read my post about Joaquin... Sign in to see full entry.

BANKS?

I think my bank is trying to figure out a way they can charge me a fee each time I walk or drive past their ATM. They charge for everything else. I even heard they are going to charge for each teller visit. If I am going to pay for it, I want tea, scones, and some really good gossip. After all I'm paying them to watch my money, and I'll be darned if my bank doesn't get robbed about once a week. They aren't doing a very good job. Thank goodness for federal insurance. What I don't understand is,... Sign in to see full entry.

JOAQUIN--WAH-KEEN!

Now this is a ghost story! I was at lunch with a couple of friends. One of them mentioned someone he knew a long time ago named Joaquin.---He had never met anyone else with that name. That name seemed somewhat familiar and I was trying to remember where I had heard it. My other companion spoke up..."You know the restaurant at Indian School and RioGrande?" If I was remembering right it is a really old Hacienda/house that was turned into a restaurant. It had creeky floors and doors. "I used to... Sign in to see full entry.

WEEDS AND MORE WEEDS!

Grass doesn't grow overnight, duh, but weeds do. We finally got a little rain. Now I've got a lot of weeds. As a matter of fact I think there is a new weed for each drop of rain. OK. That is a slight exaggeration. There were at least two or three weeds that came up the night it first rained. I know because I pulled that many. Yes, I pulled them as I was coming in from picking up the morning newspaper. As a matter of fact I put the weeds I pulled in the plastic sack that the paper came in. Then I... GRANDMA CROSSING THE STREET!

I guess this is sort of about my grandma. Also it is about the beginning of some of my favorite TV shows. Does anyone remember the Doris Day Show? The one thing I could remember about that show was her coming down a spiral staircase. But it turns out that beginning wasn't until the third season. The theme song for the show never changed- "Que Sera Sera." The first season she is on the ranch/farm with her father and her two little boys. The second season has her going into the city to find a job.... Sign in to see full entry.

STAINZ-R-OUT?

They are doing it again. They are advertising another miracle stain remover on TV. It seem's like I fall for all of them. This one claims that they use banana juice to break down stains. (Maybe I could just rub a banana on the stains?) Well, on TV it looks like it works. They just got dried nail polish, tar and oil off a rug. I wonder if it would work on an old red ink stain on a carpet? Heck it's only $20 ($19.95). Maybe I'll try it. They are also giving away a lot of other things for just the... WHERE DID THAT COME FROM?

Just as I stepped out on my back porch steps a feather floated by my face. I dodged it thinking that it was a bug. Then I watched as it floated away. I thought, 'Where did that come from?' Well, duh a bird. As I watched, it floated down, then drifted upward. Weird, if it is falling why is it going up? I guess it's just drifting along on an air current. Wonder what kind of bird that feather came from? I watched it until it disappeared. I guess it didn't really disappear. I just couldn't see it... Sign in to see full entry.

TINY BUBBLES IN THE LIVING ROOM?

Where else would they be? I could hear Bo in the living room. He was chewing on something besides a chewy or a milk bone. I ran in to see what it was. "What were you eating?" I asked him. He looked up at me with his, "Who me? I'm not eating anything," face. Then he burped and a tiny bubble floated from his nose! I looked more closely. "Where did you get that soap?" He still wasn't talking. Well he 'is' a dog. As I looked down at him wagging his tail and grinning at me it dawned on me that I had... Sign in to see full entry.

FIREWORKS AND FIERY SKIES!

The fourth of July fireworks were almost overshadowed by lightning, and wind. At first it seemed that they weren't going to set off any fire works because of the threatening storm. Then the sky cleared, a little, and the light display began. Of course I was home, not at Balloon Fiesta park, or even the Journal Pavilion. I saw a lot of fireworks anyway and heard a lot more. Just in case you were wondering, Linda Ronstadt sang at Balloon Fiesta park. Also the mayor and his band. They showed him on... Sign in to see full entry.
