Whacky
As you suggested, Whacky, it was probably a downy white underbelly feather.

Years ago during a period of extreme stress

I was getting my resume typed up as I didn't have a job.

I was on the balcony outside the typing service place, and a white dove landed on the balcony.  I'd never seen one before, nor have since, but it was the most calming thing I'd ever seen in my life and made me feel things were going to be ok.

I don't care whether it was a good omen, a bird having a rest, or a figment of a stressed mind, it reassured me, which was what I really needed at the time.

So many questions from a simple feather!

Funny how some things strike us just so, isn't it?

You're the only person I know who would freak out over such
A common occurence...LOL! But thanks for giving us this delightful glimpse into your thought processes....I need to lie down now.

Did some critter of yours attack your down/feather pillows?

But then of course you'd have a lot of fluffy white feathers floating about, eh?

I always enjoy your observations!

Whacky, maybe one of your neighbors took their feather pillows out for an airing and shook them too hard.

Good Morning Whacky......

Many believe that when things like this happen...a white feather floating right in front of you...no white birds around...can be a message from a loved one that has passed on.  They do stuff like this! I loved this post.....you are a funny and lovely person. I always appreciate all your visits to my blog. Have a wonderful weekend!

Maybe it was from a pigeon. I used to find places where owls and hawks made kills, and there would be nothing but feathers in a pile. I guess they were plucked clean before being eaten. I don't know about that either.

Whacky...
I enjoyed reading your post.  Your voice seems so natural. Maybe it was a feather from a dove.

I think BlackPearl has it...very likely a dove...they seem like nomads....
birds that never stay put anywhere for long (from the little I know about them)....

Whacky - There's a tree in my yard (I think it's a Poplar), shedding white fuzzy things & they're blanketing the landscape - happens about this time every year. Did you see just one???

Whacky,
This sound strangely familiar... like a scene out of Forrest Gump.  Anyway, what bird has white feathers, besides a dove?  How cool if it came from a dove passing by your house.

I'm always impressed that you can make a post from your backyard. I guess I could too if I looked more
