What is normal?

When children are two there are certains behaviors that are normal and others that are unusual. When young adults are twenty-two the range of normal behavior is wider. There are things that young adults are expected to be able to do by the time they reach twenty two. As young women with a major... Sign in to see full entry.

She needs a rehab program

I have a friend who is mentally ill. Her first episode was when she was seventeen and had just graduated from high school. She went into the mental hospital and from there she went to a half way house. She was there until December and went into college away from home. She had later episodes, but... My daughter is waking up.

It is a delight to see my daughter when she wakes up from her apathy. It is like the movie Awakenings except hopefully it has a better ending. Hopefully when she regains her mental health, she'll be able to mature and gain the self-confidence and energy of young adults her age. Sign in to see full entry.

Signs of feeling better

My daughter wants to go on a diet. For her that is a sign of getting better. Her medication makes her gain weight. When she starts caring about her appearance again, then she wants to lose weight. When she gets over a mania, she gets tired all the time and apathetic. It takes several months for her... Sign in to see full entry.

Today my husband and my daughters went to see the fireworks. I didn't want to go because i can't walk very fast and my daughters don't like to walk slow. Living at Home and Twenty-two

My daughters both left home for one semester/quarter. It was a terrifying experience for both of them. They are both very shy and they have bipolor. I am disappointed but not with them. In order for them to make it on their own, they have to develop more self-confidence and learn how to deal with... Sign in to see full entry.

The Long Road to Recovery

I had a long conversation with my housemate last night about my daughter, Brenda. She is in recovery from a mania. She lost her self confidence, doesn't care for her appearance and doesn't talk much. It is obvious there is still something wrong with her. She isn't exactly depressed but close to it.... Sign in to see full entry.

Weight gain

My daughters weight changes continually. Depression makes them gain. Main makes them lose weight. At first I would get rid of their too big clothing so that they didn't have to be reminded of their weight gain. I'm going to have to change my policy. In addition, I have been gaining weight as well. I... Sign in to see full entry.
