Apparently, he developed laminitis in his front hooves, as well as the back ones, leaving him literally without a leg to stand on. I have sad news today. Barbaro had to be sped to Rainbow Bridge this morning. The poor horse was suffering from an abscess in the leg he broke during the Preakness this past May, and doctors tried their best to treat that abscess, but his humans decided that enough was enough.
