HELP THIS BLOGGER NAME THIS THING!
Do you know what this is? We found several on the ground in a wooded area near us and there were several on a tree. We have never seen them before. It has a very tacky substance inside like glue and is shaped somewhat like a pineapple. Smells sweet with a sort of fruity smell. It is about 4 inches across. It has the seeds inside each of these little bumps are attached to a fibrous part of the fruit that holds the seeds inside. I think it may dry and these fly about to reseed. It is interesting...
