JOY TO THE WORLD!

Lillian called me, laughing, the other day. She just had to share what she'd just witnessed. I only hope that in recording it, I can do it justice. She and John had visited a neighboring town with some friends, and had run across some elementary school children, doing a Christmas presentation. They... Sign in to see full entry.

'Gum's the Word'

Can you blow a bubble inside of a bubble? I can. I discovered the joys of bubblegum when I was about eight years old...from the Permenter sisters, Lisa and Lori. I wanted to be cool like them. I practiced for hours in front of the mirror with a pack of Hubba Bubba and two sore jaws. And... Sign in to see full entry.

"Thrift Store: Twenty-five Cents!"

I used the term 'cheap-wad' last night, in reference to a Christmas gift we were buying for someone. We were admittedly 'cheaping' out, but, as they say, "Tis the Season." I come from a long line of cheap-wads. My mother was the Queen of them. Often she would approach us and slyly say, "Do you like... Sign in to see full entry.

Pick A Pet

Pets are good. Everyone should have one. My mother was not a pet person. She would eye the creature, then pat it, tentatively, with two fingers, on the top of the head. Afterwards, she would quickly rush to wash her hands. I've never seen her bury her face into the fluffy fur of a puppy; nor could I... Sign in to see full entry.

Hairs To You

I am knowingly breaking one of the Ten Commandments. Thou Shalt not Covet. I covet hair. I want more of it. I cannot grow it to save my life. The bright side of this is that I will probably not ever have to worry about having a beard or a mustache...and, if you're a girl, that's a great thing. One... Sign in to see full entry.

He Sees You When You're Sleeping...Or Does He???

I have always thought I was quite the 'girly-girl'. Case in point; when I was little, about four or five... I was enthralled with the fairy tales. My parents took Lauren and I to see Sleeping Beauty at the drive-in theatre. All of that big hair and those pretty dresses and sparkly things flying... Sign in to see full entry.

Here, Let Me Help You With That...

Lillian just called me with a little memory gem. She's been in the process of moving to another home....and she's been playing 'Superwoman'. This girl has three daughters from her first marriage, one from her second (a one-year-old son), two bonus daughters, a nephew who is staying with them because... Sign in to see full entry.

A Visit to Perfectville

It had been forever since I'd been in Perfectville, the small, Western town where I grew up. Had visited briefly three years ago, for an educational-type conference. It seemed less daunting than it had when I'd fled at age seventeen. I remember that I couldn't wait to leave, and was always looking... Sign in to see full entry.

The Crush

My Husband need never feel envious of the boy I had my first crush on. It was a farce. The story goes something like this.... I was fourteen. I idolized my big sister, Lauren. I began to talk like her, I imitated her expressions. I even tried to wear her clothes....but we were different sizes, so... Sign in to see full entry.

Good Fur You

Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I'd end up in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, this very weekend. We were in the area; actually looking for a hot springs, and someone in the group of ladies suggested Jackson Hole for a road trip. They could not understand why I had started to laugh wildly and...
