Today, rather than yesterday, I took down my photo show at the New Moon Cafe, to make room for the next artist. But I am on the list to be on the walls again in a couple of months or so--too laid back today, we all were, to write anything down! I didn't sell any but did get a lot of good comments, and a few people requested contact information. Some of my cards sold. Charlie took the bus over the mountains to visit his sweetie and spend New Year's with her. I will drive most of the way to... Sign in to see full entry.

The Last Day of the Year
The bleakness and chill of today is expected to provide a contrast to the rumoured lovely day tomorrow, with blue skies and sunshine to start the new year. The snow is nearly gone--there is plenty of mud to go around, and it does. My mood is in synch with conditions, with much slush between the ears and in all processes. I must stir myself up to go out. Today I take down my photo show at the New Moon Cafe, and also stop by a place with a totally different tone a half-block away with a few... Sign in to see full entry.

It wouldn't be Christmas without...

The icicles are streaming with water,
vanishing as they came, a drop at a time... The snow is looking old and worn on the ground under the trees, and the trees have been shedding large gobs of wet snow all day. It looks like our glacial interlude is over. Of course, if the temps drop, the ice on the roads will be horrendous! And if they rise, the flooding will be significant. But today it's Christmas in this house, and all's well. I hope it is so for everyone here, too! I made orange biscuits for breakfast openers, with some nice... Sign in to see full entry.

It is pouring snow outside...
Or it is raining slush. Icicles are no longer hanging on the front edge of the house, and neither are the gutters. The trees are bent to the ground in places. Significant limbs have dropped out of the trees, but none on the one car we sorta wish they would maybe kinda total... I just got home with a fine roast beast and other goodies, some yarns for a couple or three more hats which will be done tonight... and don't expect to go out again until Saturday at the earliest. If we haven't got it now,... Sign in to see full entry.

In anticipation of success...
I have a little notebook in my bag that goes into restaurants and coffee shops with me, and I try to find something to write while the time passes. This is what I wrote last night at the Denny's just outside the airport, when I got there a couple of hours early. Everything will be all right as soon as we are home tonight-- all the miles, all passed by, distances closed with a hug and a sigh... Now I'll enjoy without a qualm the snow behind this evening's calm; the house will be alive with... Sign in to see full entry.

Charlie's sojourn in the Denver airport is over...
He is happily home, and properly amazed by the snow all over our yard, and the great long icicles that have begun to drop off the eaves as the temps rise to the low and mid 30s. Davy Dog is ecstatic! And I am tired... but I have pictures to post tomorrow. Sleep warm and well, everyone! Sign in to see full entry.

A first class seat for Charlie!
I should think so! It is on a flight tomorrow evening. And because the weather isn't their fault, that's the best they can do for him--Oh, and offering him a discount on a future ticket. Well, knowing my Charlie, cheery sort that he is, and dedicated to gaming (role-play fantasy games that he designs constantly, and leads his friends through) chances are good he will get a game up with some of the other kids in the airport also stranded on their ways home for the holidays. Probably start up... Sign in to see full entry.
No seat for Charlie
No room for one more on the 11:30 flight... Now waiting on the 3:30 flight. If he doesn't call in the next 20 minutes, to tell us he isn't on this one either, then we need to get to the airport--usually an hour's drive--by 6pm. Luckily, none of the branches that have broken under the weight of ice and snow have blocked the driveway. Yet. I'm going out in a little while to see if I can drive in this stuff. We have 4 wheel drive, but no chains on the truck. Charlie just called... flight postponed... Sign in to see full entry.
Waiting to hear...
According to the weather reports, both the Denver and Seattle airports are operating without delays. We are hoping to hear from Charlie that he is getting on his flight this morning. Then I'll head out for the airport, and it could be he and I will get there at about the same time. Ice has followed the snow, and conditions on the roads should be even more interesting today than they were yesterday, or last night. But the hurricane-force winds around Seattle and in the western slopes of the... Sign in to see full entry.
