Wednesday already?

The sun is bright this morning, lighting up red and yellow and green 'lanterns' of wisteria and maple leaves. The great old maple next door that fills the view at the end of the deck is more and more yellow. The last several nights have been only into the 40s, and today we expect a lovely 72 F. The workshop day on Sunday was great! There were a number of Charlie's fellow juggerers there to make boffers for the team. A couple of kids came along with their dad, and they were the sort of kids that... Sign in to see full entry.

Busy times!

Between workshop work and a long weekend visit from my high school buddy, and the frustrating attempts to get my listings going on Michael's MakerPlace, and general ennui between busy-ness, not much has happened in the way of writing here. I have a lot of catching up to do with reading, too! Yesterday's eclipse event was 80% of the annular total eclipse here in this part of Colorado. Many, many photos posted on Facebook are of the crescent-shaped leaf shadows, not of the moon and sun. I didn't... Sign in to see full entry.

We've got cold!

Not me, just the weather: forecast says we won't see 60F today, and overnight will have 30s! This means the leaves will begin to turn in earnest, not just the sumac. My ocean of green off the end of the deck will go brilliant yellow, and there will be fiery colors all around town! If we don't make the road-trip to the high places soon, we'll miss out on the best colors. Meanwhile, I just turned on the heat. I like to keep it in the mid-60s here, and dress warm enough to not need it higher. One... Sign in to see full entry.

Aftermaths and Birthdays

The sun is bright, the air is cool, and summer is clearly behind us. It has been ups and downs these past few days. I'm still getting over the aches and pains of the Getting Ready. Yesterday I was just plain sleepy until having a cup of coffee in the afternoon. The open-house at the Fire-Thieves workshop was good in that some or the people who responded to the announcement Charlie posted in Facebook were new acquaintances. They were pleased to see what the workshop offers including space they... Sign in to see full entry.

The Day Before The Day

Here it is, Saturday, the day before the Big Event: The Fire Thieves Studio Workshop/Gallery Open House! Mostly the workshop is looking great! Things are organized and clutter is cleared, and mostly it's ready to be seen. Last thing will be sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming, but before all that, I have a number of wedding-gown petticoats to price and tag, and then pack into those vacuum bags that when all the air is sucked out of them make a nice compact flat storage container. Otherwise, those... Sign in to see full entry.

The new week begins...

After some good nights' sleeps, and the weather settling down to nighttime 40s, daytime 70s, and mostly clear and dry, I'm feeling pretty good this week. I appreciate very much all your good wishes while I've been dealing with this bug--Just glad it didn't get me until now! After mostly sitting out Sunday, we headed down to the workshop today and got quite a lot done. While Charlie made some pre-ordered boffers, I reorganized the yarn goods, put away a bunch of the costuming that had not quite... Sign in to see full entry.

Gone but not forgotten...

I tested negative for covid last Sunday, but the body does not forget... I did nothing particularly strenuous yesterday, aside from the 15 minutes, maybe, that it took to re-hang all the costuming that we took to the show over the weekend. There has been still the occasional phlegmish sneeze and/or cough, the slighted muzzy-headedness, to be expected in the normal aftermath of covid. We stopped at Red Robin for a late lunch, then I spent the rest of the day and evening at home, doing nothing... Sign in to see full entry.

The Monday after-fest

The sun is shining, the forecast is going from 53 to 80s today, no rain mentioned. I was so tired when we got back from the event yesterday, I went to bed early, and got in a good 9 hours, where my usual night is more like 5 or 6. The Fest ended with moderate success for us, making booth-cost, but not much more. I was very pleased to sell a scarf/ear-warmer combo, a lovely merino wool from the Malabrigo collection called Whale's Road--dark blue and purple for $75, and had lots of conversations... thumbs up!

Sunny and cool this morning, and testing all-clear! Looks like I can hang out at the Fest today, letting Charlie have some breaks, and talking up my own stuff! Sign in to see full entry.

One Day Down

Today is done: One bear has found a new best friend, and one of my scarf/ear-warmer combos also sold. Meanwhile, at home I have finished a very nice elf-yarn scarf ~50 inches long, 5 wide, mostly orange and a little grey. It will go out on display tomorrow. We have had some nights in the 40s, days in the 70s. I think perhaps the summer heat is broken. I hope it's like this for you, too--a long, mild autumn for us all! Tomorrow I'll find out if I'm covid-negative. I'm feeling pretty well, but... Sign in to see full entry.
