The sun is shining, the forecast is going from 53 to 80s today, no rain mentioned. I was so tired when we got back from the event yesterday, I went to bed early, and got in a good 9 hours, where my usual night is more like 5 or 6. The Fest ended with moderate success for us, making booth-cost, but not much more. I was very pleased to sell a scarf/ear-warmer combo, a lovely merino wool from the Malabrigo collection called Whale's Road--dark blue and purple for $75, and had lots of conversations... thumbs up!
Sunny and cool this morning, and testing all-clear! Looks like I can hang out at the Fest today, letting Charlie have some breaks, and talking up my own stuff! Sign in to see full entry.

One Day Down
Today is done: One bear has found a new best friend, and one of my scarf/ear-warmer combos also sold. Meanwhile, at home I have finished a very nice elf-yarn scarf ~50 inches long, 5 wide, mostly orange and a little grey. It will go out on display tomorrow. We have had some nights in the 40s, days in the 70s. I think perhaps the summer heat is broken. I hope it's like this for you, too--a long, mild autumn for us all! Tomorrow I'll find out if I'm covid-negative. I'm feeling pretty well, but... Sign in to see full entry.

The Set Up
This weekend is the Oddity & Fear Fest, and today was all about the getting ready and setting up the booth. Charlie tested covid-free this morning, so he's ready for it. I am still feeling the ups and downs and won't be using my last test kit until Sunday. I drove him to the workshop so he could load up everything, and I needed to prep some costuming. I selected about 2 dozen items and made decisions about pricing, wrote them into the inventory lists and tagged them all. Lugging them... Sign in to see full entry.

midweek check-in
Feeling better, even functional now. I am down at the workshop at the moment, on my old laptop. Charlie is getting things done for his weekend show. Whenever I feel the need to recede, we'll head back home where he can do some of the sewing handwork on the latest bears. Last night I finally finished the cowl that I've been working on all weekend. It was coming up a bit short, until I dug a little deeper in the bag and found another whole ball of the grey 'elven' yarn. It took about a third of... Sign in to see full entry.

Catching up...
Overnight rain was a soothing sound, and though there are still clouds in the sky that look very wet, and more rain is forecast today, the sun has brightened the sky for now. It's cool, and portends autumn days ahead. My personal outlook pretty much matches the weather: brain-cloudiness is less today, and I'm motivated to get some housekeeping dealt with. Breathing is fairly clear for the moment, and that's a pretty good indicator thing are getting better. My ribs are aching from the coughing. I... Sign in to see full entry.

at the end of the day
Today I went to the doctor, discussed symptoms, added up some numbers, asked about Paxlovid... They aren't giving Paxlovid to anyone whose vitals add up to less than the threshold for hospitalization, and that's me. After she described possible side-effects from the drug, I was also glad to not go that way. I have albuterol to help ease breathing, which was what I went in asking for, and that really does help loosen up the tightness. If all goes well, this should pass in ~5 days from when... Still feeling poorly here
I have an appointment to see the doctor about a mile from here. That's good that it isn't farther, as it seems I will have to be driving myself. My blood sugar was very low this morning, so I got up and made eggs and toast, and now I'm falling asleep again as I sit here reading, so I think I'll head back to bed. I could kick the gal who didn't leave the larp event when she discovered she was ill. Sign in to see full entry.

It's official...
Covid test is positive this morning. So far, it feels pretty much like any upper respiratory infection, and I am hoping it stays in the sinuses and doesn't move down to chest and lungs. I am grateful that it is no longer a death sentence to those at high risk, and not so grateful to the individual who found out they were ill and opted to stay in the game anyway, closely interacting with other players. She is responsible for any number of players taking it home with them, spreading it to friends... Sign in to see full entry.

as time goes by...
Charlie reports a fever-free night, minimal coughing and stuffiness this morning. I am still waiting to see if I'm going to be developing any symptoms. Test kits are no longer gratis at Kaiser, they're now $14 per box of two tests. In the meantime, I will be hanging out at home, or masking if I must go out anywhere. Charlie's exposure was three days before he felt it, so for me, tomorrow or Friday will probably be the Day of Knowing. But one is contageous before symptoms appear, so... isolation...
