Between storms and clouds...

I forgot to mention earlier, I saw a 'ratcoon' ambling through the neighborhood last night. I made that little trilly sound that they make, and it also made the sound though I can't swear it was an answer. I know my accent isn't quite right. And today on the net that holds the thistle-seed that the goldfinches like so much, there were three birds: two bright yellow and black and one slightly duller version: I think the season's kids are growing up! Today I finally made the red sugar syrup and... Sign in to see full entry.

Sitting out another tornado warning...

The radio makes an attention-getting noise and rasps out a warning regarding a storm cloud 'capable of spawning tornadoes' and golf-ball sized hail moving out of the north/northwest just up the road from Colorado Springs. I observed the very cloud from my deck, and it didn't look very threatening. It and the warning is moving south and east at about 20 mph, and now we are no longer in potential of tornado. Not from this one. Really, hail, especially big hail, is the real danger here. This time,... Sign in to see full entry.

Of clouds and cameras

Another fantastic sky this evening, with storm gathering over Colorado Springs at sunset... My camera was in an odd mood, or mode, and it was with great relief that I found it had produced some images of how it really looked, at well as getting all artsy on me. https://www.flickr.com/gp/therovingeye/7wE7n6 Sign in to see full entry.

Here's a thing...

My eldest, Anne, dances with the Silk Road Dance Company. https://www.generosity.com/community-fundraising/to-london-with-love-and-central-asian-dance Based in Washington DC, they have danced for museums, embassies and fairs, at the Kennedy Center, and at the White House. They have performed internationally, too. If you want to know more, and to see videos: http://www.silkroaddance.com/ Sign in to see full entry.

photos...

I didn't take a lot of pictures this year. While the day wasn't baking hot, my back wasn't so hot either, and the whole Festival is located on a hillside, its paths and boulevards never graded nor smoothed. They could use some palanquins and bearers for some of us rickety folks to get rides around the place! Here are this year's shots so far, and a few more of Abbey, now Embers. https://www.flickr.com/gp/therovingeye/uiRK6x Sign in to see full entry.

At the end of the day...

Home again, at last, after the day at the faire, then a fast drive 25 miles south to the wedding of some fine friends... And we arrived there moments before they spoke their vows, not late after all. One of the things that needed to be done at the Renaissance Festival was to acquire some interesting food items to add to the picnic basket that was my wedding gift to them. It started out to be a very elegant picnic basket, with some nice little gilt-rimmed small wine glasses, and some china plates... Sign in to see full entry.

Off to the Fair!

Cat, birds, fish and gerbils are fed and supplied with water. For the fish especially, water must be supplied. I have tried on two costumes, settled on the one that goes best with my hobbity shape and temperament. Extra clothing is coming along, too, as we go straight to a wedding after the fair. I expect to be exhausted by the time I get back here... Have a lovely Sunday, everyone! Sign in to see full entry.

Thanks for all the good wishes and useful advisings...

Charlie got through the evening and the night pain-free, without resorting to the vicodin or the nausea meds, and has gone in to work today. Hopefully, any tasks he is set to doing will be light. And if the pain starts again, he'll be heading home. Speaking of homes, I did a great litter-removal for the gerbils this morning, added a big fat cardboard tube and re-installed the wheel they haven't had use of in some time. We'll see if they remember or rediscover the joys of running madly nowhere.... Sign in to see full entry.

Urgent Care...

Charlie woke up in pain today, lower right back pain. He couldn't get comfortable in any position, and the pain was just persistant and bad. After no relief at all for several hours with acetaminophen and then aspirin, and being unable to keep any food or drink down him, we made a trip to Urgent Care. After a couple of hours, and a look at the speciman in the little cup, they told him, most likely a kidney stone: here are some prescriptions for pain, for peeing more, and keeping food down. The...
