Thanks for the heads-up on this... I have heard it is a good way to have oatmeal ready and waiting in the morning, but the manual says contradictory things, too. It's easy enough to cook on the stove. I like steel-cut, too.

Embers is looking good... As for the rice cooker, I do not reccomend
using it to cook steel-cut oatmeal - as the oats tend to foam and boil over while
cooking and make a glutinous, creepy mess.
