Heading out...

In an hour I'll be going to collect Charlie from work, make a quick stop for him to buy some much-needed shoes, then we are headed north to Denver International Airport for a 6:10 flight. We have discovered that driving up and parking at one of the private lots is cheaper than getting the airport shuttle from here, and much easier than looking for a friend to drive us up there and then meet us when we get back. Amtrak derailment in Washington State

This is happening at about 7:40 this morning along Interstate 5 between Olympia and Tacoma. I know this bridge, have driven under it many, many times in the 30+ years I lived in the area. I have been in touch with several friends in Olympia and no one I know was involved. Charlie's dad would very possibly have been there on his usual commute to Olympia had he not been working in Seattle today. ANGELS IN AMERICA parts one and two

I first tried reading this play by Tony Kushner several years ago and didn't make it past the first scene. The central character of the scene was the lawyer Roy Cohn, one of the most despicable men on Earth in his time. He was real, Joseph McCarthy's right hand in the 50s whose claim to fame, by the character's words, was getting Ethel Rosenberg executed. Back-up Plans

It is uncertain what will change in internet usage if net neutrality is lost. The simplest thing is that we will all have to pay more for how we use it here. This makes me very aware of how much of my social contact is here, online, and how much I'd lose without computer or internet access. Also, I have long held that the power of the consumer is to refuse to consume, hence, my back-up plan: If you would like to stay in touch, whatever becomes of the internet, please pm me your address and/or... slow-starting morning

It is another chilly, breezy morning graced with a lovely fiery sky--there will be photos once my other laptop sees fit to finish updating. When I went to bed last night, it was set to do updates then turn off, but apparently it also went to bed, so when turned on this morning, it gives me a blue screen and says working on updates 1%... An hour later, it is up to 24%. That is why I am using the little Macbook now, but I can't shift photos from camera to computer with this one. I am sure there is... Sign in to see full entry.

Almost forgot to go...

Charlie and I got tickets last week for an event today. Life being what it is, we kinda forget the date was coming right up, and considered how we might spend this Sunday. Late Saturday, we each remembered...! How awful it would have been to have not gone because we just spaced it out! But we did remember, and we made the drive from the Springs to Denver, arriving around 11:30. Winds of change

It is warmer today, with high gusty winds such as this area is known for. Weather patterns come and go with the belligerent airs! Adnohr would have been wistful the past two days as we could see from here, some snow in the air over the foothills, but not but a flake fell here east of the freeway. But it will come, I have no doubt. Embers is doing better at the food dish this morning. She was a pest, walking all over me last night.
