Only just 1pm...
Only half way through the day, it is getting too warm to work in the sun, to, for example, plant the wysteria vine I splurged on today. It will go in a big, big plastic pot, because, after all, I only rent here. We were up early to meet a half dozen theater people working to costume a Little Theater production of SPAMALOT. That's the Monty Python take on CAMELOT, if you are not familiar with it. Finally, finally, the collection has come to the notice of the people I've collected it for! They... Photos of May
The dovelings are near ready to fly... This year's deck garden has begun... Ember's latest portraits... the damage to the old maple from last week's late snow storm... https://www.flickr.com/gp/therovingeye/wz652J Sign in to see full entry.
The Gummint Made Me Do It!
For some time now, it has been an intention to clear up the mess on the desk in my bedroom. Even day before yesterday I felt that mood coming on... before it faded away again to a preference to do anything else. But it had to happen. Today is the last day I can apply for my annual license tabs for the truck without a late fee. And it requires things like the insurance coverage information. So... I suspected that buried somewhere in that paper chaos was the current insurance card. And so it... Sign in to see full entry.

Tuesday is Monday
There was thunder today! Twice it rolled along overhead, and there were just a few drops of rain here--Enough to rouse me up to bring in the tomato starts, and put the hail covers over the pepper plants! But there was no hail today. There was a bit here yesterday, or was it the day before...? Whenever, north of here saw quite a lot more! I have been thinking a lot about civilization lately. This afternoon I have been watching a PBS series called FIRST CIVILIZATIONS, even taking notes to write... Sign in to see full entry.

Sunshine!
Yes, it's back, and bringing spring along with it. The garden box is glowing with delights, and the vegie plants are warming to it... The dovelings are growing, and yesterday while Mama perched on the nest, a definite doveling butt was visible poking out from under. I imagine they will fledge in another couple of weeks. I wonder how many broods the parents will go for this summer. Eurasian Collared Doves are noted for 3 or more clutches a season. And Papa is already cooing in that come-hither... And the day after...
The snow is nearly all gone now, after a day of cascades and little off-the-roof avalanches. The lilacs are bowed but unbroken; the maple did lose a couple of limbs, one about 5-6 inches thick, I think. There are broken branches all over town, up and down the block, too. The rest of the week, we have warming temps up to maybe the 80s. Oh, and all my plants look fine, though the peppers and tomato starts appear to have bent under the load. Maybe with sunshine, they will all stand up tall again. Sign in to see full entry.

next morning...
Last night I went out with a broom and knocked around the lilacs to shake off the heavy snow that had them bent to the ground. I have just come in from doing it again this morning. None of them snapped overnight, though I have heard from other corners of the Springs of trees and boughs broken. The maple out front seems to still be intact. Mama Dove is tucked up in the corner of the deck's roof, and though there is ice and snow all around on the reed fencing and deck furnishings, her corner looks... Sign in to see full entry.

me on display
And here it is, snowing... temps in the mid-30s, and likely to go warmer, so I am not so worried about the garden, but... Really, Winter? Yesterday evening we turned the guest room, with all its wide white walls, into a gallery for most of the photo canvases I've accumulated in the past several years. The thing is, if there is a gene for out-of-sight-out-of-mindedness, I have a couple of them: If things aren't in front of me, I forget I have them. So these walls have become a staging area for... Seriously, Winter...?
Temps down in the 30s overnight... but the garden is still good. There is a big plant sale for charity going on this weekend which I mean to visit. Forecast for the week has us expecting highs in the 60s. But it's Colorado, and it's weather, so who knows? Mama Dove was out and about yesterday, so I took a liberty and a quick feel inside the nest, and yes, the babies are there, two of them, and already a pretty good size. I am so pleased they have enough room to grow now! One of my favorite... Sign in to see full entry.
