I first tried reading this play by Tony Kushner several years ago and didn't make it past the first scene. The central character of the scene was the lawyer Roy Cohn, one of the most despicable men on Earth in his time. He was real, Joseph McCarthy's right hand in the 50s whose claim to fame, by the character's words, was getting Ethel Rosenberg executed.
