flying into winter
The flight from Seattle was not terribly long, between 2-3 hours. It was cold in Seattle and the Christmas snow was still on the ground in many places in the early evening. Sunset was over my shoulder for a long time as we flew southeast towards Denver. There was a counterpane of fluffy clouds for a while, then I could discern a snowy landscape below with clusters of lights. There was a first-quarter moon brightening the snow a little.
