Just when everything was going so well...

First, the sudden return of winter changed our route southwards. Second, the trailer has lost a wheel bearing which took us a while to realize, and while it could have been better, it could have been worse. We had just pulled off the highway into a little town called Scipio, Utah, and saw white smoke at the back. That was the tire rubbing against the bottom of the trailer. Just what we hoped to avoid...

Winter storm has hit the very route we had deemed the safest for the travels: snow, a little, and ice, somewhat. And wind over the prairies. We are in Evanston, Wyoming at 9 am, waiting a little. I-80 doesn't seem to get the same kind of traffic as some of the other east/west interstates, so I will give it a bit more time to effectively dry out the road. Temps are right around freezing, not really cold-cold, so that will help. I've got excellent all-weather tires, but not chains which are... Sign in to see full entry.
