Well, they closed it from Rock Springs, 100m further than we got. So we have turned around for a longer haul, but snow-free.

I know what fixing chains used to be like Ciel , perhaps they have improved on them by now. rolling under a lorry try to pull the damned chains tight. Hope it will thaw for you.

we had snow last night. quite a lot but now thisafternoon it is melting away. I am sort of thinking that might be the last for us.

I've been across that stretch of I-80, many years ago. Pretty wide
open and desolate, and so flat we couldn't see where highway left off and prairie began at times, but there were big truckers who knew the road, and we made it just fine.
